The Psychedelic Consultancy
Australia
Part-time, 0.6 FTE | Remote | $80,000 FTE ($48,000 pro rata)
Psychedelic-assisted therapy is legal in Australia, and the psychiatrists delivering it are working at the front edge of a new treatment pathway. Getting authorised to prescribe, and then running a safe practice, takes an enormous amount of careful paperwork and coordination. That is where we come in.
The Psychedelic Consultancy supports psychiatrists to become Authorised Prescribers of psychedelic-assisted therapy, and then to deliver it well through clinical supervision, training and practice support. We are looking for someone to help us do that at a larger scale.
ABOUT THE ROLE The work splits roughly two ways. Part of it is writing: the regulatory and funding documentation that gets patients access to treatment. The rest is the day-to-day administration that keeps a small clinical team running, from scheduling sessions to booking flights for training events. Both parts matter equally. A protocol amendment that is unclear has a real consequence for a patient waiting for treatment, and so does a clinician who arrives at the wrong venue.
You will report to our Operations Manager and work closely with the clinical and leadership team.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Writing and documentation
- Write and prepare protocol amendments for our Authorised Prescriber clients
- Write funding applications supporting patient access to psychedelic-assisted therapy
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with regulatory requirements
Coordination and administration:
- Schedule sessions, meetings and supervision across multiple clinicians and calendars
- Book travel and accommodation for clinicians attending training events and clinic days
- Handle the logistics behind our training events, including venues, materials and attendee communications
- Support PAT therapists to work safely in the room, including practical, logistical and documentation support
- Provide general research and administrative support to the Operations Manager and clinical team
- Take on ad hoc tasks as they come up, because in a team this size they will
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Essential
- Robust written communication, with the ability to produce clear, well-structured documents
- Excellent attention to detail, particularly with regulatory, clinical or funding documentation
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to juggle competing deadlines and other people's calendars
- Comfortable with the practical side of administration, including travel bookings, scheduling and chasing things down
- A genuine interest in mental health innovation
Desirable:
- Experience working on a clinical trial
- Experience in health, medical or research administration
- Knowledge of, or real curiosity about, psychedelic-assisted therapy
You do not need a background in psychedelics to apply. If you write clearly, organise well and want to learn this field, we would like to hear from you.
WHY THIS ROLE
This is a small team doing work that did not exist in Australia a few years ago. You will see how a new treatment pathway gets built, from the regulatory detail through to the therapists delivering sessions, and you will learn a great deal quickly. It is not a role where you sit at one end of a process. You will touch most parts of the organisation, which is the appeal and also the workload.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS The role involves sensitive clinical and patient information, so strict confidentiality is essential, and you will need to be willing to undergo background and reference checks.
HOW TO APPLY
Send your CV and a short cover letter telling us why this role interests you and what draws you to this field, to
