About Joyful Souls Support Joyful Souls Support provides person-centred support and residential care services designed to promote independence, dignity, participation and quality of life for the people we support. We are seeking a qualified and experienced Residential Care Officer to join our team in the Northern Territory. The position involves providing care, supervision and structured support to residents living in a residential/group housing environment, with a focus on individual needs, development, independence and wellbeing.

About the Position The Residential Care Officer is responsible for providing day-to-day care and supervision while supporting residents to achieve their individual goals and participate in daily living, social and community activities. The successful applicant will work with residents, families, support staff and relevant service providers to identify individual needs, implement support strategies and monitor progress.

Key Duties and Responsibilities The Residential Care Officer will:

- Provide care, supervision and support to residents living in a residential or group housing environment.
- Assess and identify residents' individual support needs, abilities, preferences and goals.
- Participate in the planning, development and implementation of individual support programs.
- Implement structured educational, developmental, training and support activities appropriate to individual residents.
- Assist residents to develop and maintain independent living skills.
- Support residents to participate in household, social, recreational and community activities.
- Encourage residents' social, emotional and personal development through appropriate activities and support.
- Provide practical assistance with activities of daily living in accordance with individual support requirements and care plans.
- Monitor residents' wellbeing, behaviour, participation and progress against individual support goals.
- Maintain accurate and timely case notes,



progress records, incident reports and other required documentation.
- Report changes in residents' circumstances, needs, behaviour, health or progress to the appropriate supervisor or relevant professional.
- Liaise with families, carers, support coordinators, health professionals and other service providers where required.
- Assist residents to access appropriate community, social, educational, recreational and support services.
- Encourage residents to exercise choice, autonomy and independence wherever practicable.
- Support the implementation of positive behaviour and risk-management strategies in accordance with individual plans and organisational procedures.
- Promote a safe, respectful and inclusive residential setting.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with privacy, safeguarding, workplace health and safety and organisational requirements.
- Participate in team meetings, supervision, training and professional development.
- Contribute to the review and continuous improvement of individual support programs and service delivery.

Essential Qualifications and Experience Applicants must have:

- A Diploma-level qualification in Community Services, Disability, Individual Support, Welfare, Youth Work or another relevant discipline.
- At least 1 year of relevant full-time professional experience in residential care, disability support, community services, welfare support or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience providing care and supervision in a residential, group-home, institutional or comparable support environment.




- Demonstrated ability to identify individual needs and contribute to the development and implementation of support programs.
- Experience monitoring and documenting the progress and wellbeing of individuals.
- Demonstrated ability to support people to develop independence and participate in social and community activities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with residents, families, colleagues and external service providers.
- Ability to maintain accurate client records and professional documentation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary/support team.
- Demonstrated understanding of confidentiality, privacy, duty of care and professional boundaries.

Desirable

Skills and Experience The following will be highly regarded:
- Previous experience in disability residential services or group-home settings.
- Experience supporting people with intellectual, physical, social or emotional disabilities.
- Experience implementing individual support or development programs.
- Experience with positive behaviour support and person-centred practices.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Current Australian driver's licence.
