Position- Retail Manager

Location: Devonport Asian Grocery - DEVONPORT TAS 7310

Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Hours: 38 hours per week

Salary: $80,000- $85,000 per annum + superannuation

About the role The Retail Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of retail operations, including product mix, stock management, customer service standards, purchasing strategies, and sales performance.

Key responsibilities

- Planning and determining the appropriate product mix, stock levels and customer service standards
- Monitoring stock levels and coordinating the ordering, purchasing and replenishment of products
- Developing and implementing purchasing strategies and supplier arrangements
- Reviewing product pricing and assisting in establishing competitive pricing strategies
- Monitoring sales performance and implementing strategies to improve revenue and profitability
- Developing and implementing promotional and marketing activities to increase customer engagement and sales
- Managing the presentation, merchandising and general appearance of the retail premises
- Recruiting, training, supervising and rostering retail staff
- Establishing and maintaining high standards of customer service
- Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety requirements and applicable regulatory obligations

About the Role

As Retail Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the business, leading and supervising staff, maintaining excellent customer service standards, managing stock and financial controls,



and supporting the overall profitability and performance of the business.

This is a hands-on management position requiring strong leadership, organisational and commercial skills.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include

- Managing and coordinating the day-to-day operations of the café;
- Leading, supervising, training and supporting employees to maintain high standards of performance and customer service;
- Preparing staff rosters, allocating duties and monitoring employee performance;
- Managing stock levels, inventory control, ordering and supplier relationships;
- Monitoring sales performance, operating costs, budgets and key performance indicators;
- Implementing strategies to increase sales, improve profitability and enhance customer engagement;
- Managing POS operations, pricing, promotions and accurate recording of sales;
- Monitoring cash handling, reconciliations and financial transactions;
- Ensuring consistently high standards of customer service and responding effectively to customer enquiries, feedback and complaints;
- Implementing promotional and marketing activities to support business growth;
- Ensuring compliance with food safety,



hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements;
- Ensuring compliance with applicable workplace requirements, company policies and operational procedures;
- Maintaining franchise operational and quality standards; and
- Liaising with suppliers, service providers and other external parties as required.

These responsibilities reflect the existing position description, including operational management, staff recruitment and supervision, inventory, financial reporting, marketing, customer service and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications and Experience To be considered for this position, applicants should have:

- An AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma, or equivalent relevant qualification;
- At least one year of relevant experience in retail, café or hospitality management;
- Demonstrated experience managing and supervising staff;
- Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills;
- Sound understanding of stock control, inventory management and supplier coordination;
- Experience with POS systems and sales reporting;
- Good commercial awareness, including budgeting, cost control and sales performance;
- Solid customer service and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work effectively in a busy, high-volume environment; and
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.

Pay: $80,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
