Sydney

An opportunity to bring a major national mental health campaign to life and secure transformational philanthropic support for Australia’s veterans and first responders.

- Lead the delivery of a major, multi-year philanthropic campaign supporting new mental health centres for veterans and first responders
- Work alongside senior foundation leaders, campaign leadership, clinicians and influential philanthropic networks to secure transformational support
- Sydney-based with flexible hybrid working; St John of God Richmond or Burwood Hospital 2–3 days per week preferred

Impact of the organisation

St John of God Foundation is the philanthropic arm of St John of God Health Care, one of Australia’s leading not-for-profit health care providers.

Through philanthropy, the Foundation helps fund initiatives that improve patient care, advance medical research, strengthen health services and facilities, and bring new technology and innovation into health care.

Working closely with St John of God Health Care, the Foundation connects generous individuals, families, foundations, corporate partners and the broader community with opportunities to create meaningful and lasting impact for patients, their families and the wider community.

The Foundation has a strong track record of delivering significant philanthropic initiatives and building trusted relationships with donors and supporters who want to make a genuine difference through health care.

This is an exciting time to join the Foundation as it prepares to launch a major mental health campaign focused on improving access to specialised mental health care for Australia’s veterans and first responders.

The Impact you will have in this role

This is an opportunity for an accomplished campaign fundraiser to take a major philanthropic initiative from campaign-ready to campaign delivery.

As Associate Director, Mental Health Campaign, you will report to the Director of Philanthropy & Campaigns and take ownership of the day-to-day development and delivery of the Foundation’s major mental health campaign.

This is a role for someone who understands that major campaigns require much more than securing individual gifts. You will manage campaign phases and timelines, coordinate complex stakeholders, develop compelling cases for support, identify and engage prospects, facilitate donor introductions and asks, and ensure the campaign has everything it needs to succeed.

Working closely with the campaign leadership, committee, Board and senior stakeholders, you will help translate the campaign vision into a compelling philanthropic proposition and create the momentum required to secure transformational support.

You will be the person who brings the campaign to life; getting into the detail, connecting the right people, developing proposals, preparing stakeholders for donor conversations, coordinating engagement and ensuring opportunities continue to move forward.

Your influence will come through your ability to bring people together, build momentum and facilitate successful philanthropic engagement across a complex campaign environment.

This role represents an exceptional prospect to work at the highest levels of philanthropy, engage with significant donors and campaign stakeholders, and contribute to a campaign with the potential to fundamentally improve access to mental health care for veterans and first responders.

The campaign will seek philanthropic support to expand access to dedicated mental health centres across Australia, helping address significant barriers to timely and specialised care forveterans and first responders experiencing PTSD and trauma.

This is an opportunity to play a significant role in bringing a major philanthropic initiative to life and helping create lasting change for veterans, first responders and their families.
