The Team
Windermere Primary is a co-education, Kinder to Year 6 primary school located in Claremont, Tasmania, with approximately 430 students. Windermere Primary is a newly built facility with a learning program designed to support students’ academic growth, alongside embedded trauma-informed and inclusive practices. Located on the River Derwent, Windermere offers a range of programmes to complement our structured approach to literacy and numeracy that seek to promote positive student engagement, belonging and connection to school.

To assist the Principal in the general educational leadership, management and administration of a school or college.
Assistant Principal 0.5 FTE – Early Years
Position Purpose
The Assistant Principal will work collaboratively with the Principal to lead the implementation of the Department for Education, Children and Young People (DECYP) Lifting Literacy priority within the Windermere Primary School context. The role has a specific focus on ensuring the successful implementation of the Minimum Schooling Guarantee for Structured Literacy in the Early Years and building staff capability to improve literacy outcomes for all students.
The Assistant Principal will provide strategic and instructional leadership through data-informed decision making, collaborative inquiry, coaching, professional learning and curriculum leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality literacy instruction and improved student achievement.
Assistant Principal 0.5 FTE – Primary
Position Purpose
The Assistant Principal will work collaboratively with the Principal and school leadership team to lead teaching, learning and improvement across Years 3-6. The role has a specific focus on curriculum leadership in English and Mathematics through implementation of the DECYP OCHRE curriculum, building staff capability through a differentiated capacity-building framework,
and ensuring continuity of learning and successful transition pathways for Year 6 students.
The Assistant Principal will provide instructional leadership to strengthen teacher practice, improve student achievement outcomes and ensure high-quality curriculum delivery through evidence-informed teaching, collaborative inquiry and targeted professional learning.

- Period of appointment:19 October 2026 to 21 December 2026
- 35 hours per fortnight - 0.5 FTE each
- Salary: $143,334 per annum pro-rata

We are looking for
Essential
- A registered teacher with full registration within the meaning of the Teachers Registration Act 2000.
- Qualifications as established by the Tasmanian Industrial Commission in the Teaching Service (Tasmanian Public Sector) Award, 2005.
- Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP) with a registration Status – Employment
Desirable
- Four years or more training as defined in the Teaching Service (Tasmanian Public Sector) Award 2005.
