Perth

The National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA) is Australia's independent expert regulator for health and safety, structural integrity, well integrity and environmental management for all offshore energy operations and greenhouse gas storage activities in Commonwealth waters and in coastal waters where regulatory powers and functions have been conferred.

NOPSEMA also administers the functions of the Offshore Infrastructure Regulator (OIR), for the offshore renewables industry. This includes the regulation of work health and safety, infrastructure integrity, and environmental management for offshore renewable energy infrastructure activities.

Working with NOPSEMA provides an opportunity to make a real difference to people working in Australia’s offshore energy industry.

Role:

NOPSEMA's Strategic Communications and Engagement (SCE) Directorate plays a central role in the agency's stakeholder management, spanning ministerial and parliamentary engagement, policy reform, sector and community engagement, media liaison, and crisis communications. The Directorate also provides secretariat support to the NOPSEMA Advisory Board.

We are looking for a Secretariat and Policy Officer to provide administrative, coordination and secretariat support across the Directorate's core functions, including secretariat services to the Advisory Board and support for NOPSEMA's crisis response arrangements.

This is a great opportunity for an organised, detail-focused professional to work at the heart of a regulatory agency, supporting governance processes that matter, while building experience across policy, communications and crisis management.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide high-quality secretariat support to the NOPSEMA Advisory Board, including preparing agendas and papers,

taking accurate minutes, and tracking actions in line with governance requirements.
- Coordinate Advisory Board meetings end-to-end, from scheduling through to timely distribution of materials.
- Support the crisis response team when activated, helping prepare documentation, maintain records, and coordinate meetings.
- Contribute to the review of policy documents and whole-of-government initiatives as needed.
- Maintain and update NOPSEMA's records, systems and processes relevant to Strategic Communications and Engagement, including corporate record management systems.
- Build strong working relationships across the organisation to support collaboration on communications and engagement activities.

We would like to hear from you, if you have:

- Experience providing governance and secretariat support — preparing agendas and papers, coordinating meetings, taking minutes, and supporting decision-making processes.
- Administrative experience in a corporate, government or regulatory setting.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to juggle competing priorities, stay accurate, and meet deadlines.
- Clear, confident written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage a range of stakeholders professionally.
- Proficiency across Microsoft Office and collaboration tools — Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams and SharePoint.
