Help shape the future of software engineering in IAG’s Retail Insurance Australia division. As a Senior Agentic Software Engineer within RIA Digital & Channel Engineering, you’ll be a senior hands-on technical leader in a newly established Agentic Software Engineering practice. You’ll deliver complex solutions while improving the standards, workflows, controls and reusable capabilities that support future delivery.

You’ll build engineering systems that enable engineers and software agents to work together effectively, convert delivery insights and engineering knowledge into reusable assets, and mentor teams adopting agentic software engineering practices. This is an prospect to remain hands-on while influencing engineering capability across RIA. This is a permanent full-time role based in Gadigal Country (Darling Park 2, Sydney), Naarm (Melbourne) or Meanjin (Brisbane).

What You'll Do

- Lead the design and delivery of complex, secure, scalable and maintainable software and data solutions using agentic software engineering practices, working with product, architecture, platform, cyber and risk teams.

- Design and improve reusable engineering capabilities, including agent instructions, skills, workflows, controls, evaluation approaches, automation and reference implementations, aligned with Responsible AI expectations.

- Engineer reliable workflows that provide software agents with appropriate context, tools, permissions, testing, validation, escalation and recovery mechanisms.

- Convert incidents, recurring failures,



review findings and delivery insights into improved standards, tests, controls, workflows and reusable engineering assets.

- Mentor engineers and support teams adopting agentic software engineering practices, lifting engineering quality, confidence and capability through practical delivery, design and code review.

- Lead practical experimentation with emerging agentic engineering technologies and, with platform, cyber, risk and Responsible AI teams, translate successful approaches into scalable engineering practices.

What You'll Bring

- Demonstrated experience designing and delivering complex software, data or automation solutions and providing hands-on technical leadership.

- Strong software engineering capability across architecture, automated testing, CI/CD, observability, release management, security and production support.

- Practical experience adopting, evaluating or implementing AI coding tools, software agents, agentic workflows or engineering automation.

- Ability to design reusable engineering capabilities such as standards, instructions, workflows, controls, evaluations, automation and reference implementations.

- Strong systems thinking, with the ability to engineer reliable interactions between people, software agents, development platforms and delivery controls.

- Experience mentoring engineers and translating delivery learning into structural improvements to engineering practices and systems.

- A strong learning orientation, demonstrated through experimentation,



practical application and engagement with emerging developments in this evolving discipline.

- Sound judgement to determine when agentic approaches are ready to scale, when additional controls are required and when conventional engineering approaches remain more appropriate.
