About The Role

Sydney Local Health District’s Community Health Centres have a long and proud history of delivering care in the community including prevention, early intervention, assessment, treatment, health maintenance and continuing care services designed to improve and support the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities.

The Senior Clinician, Police, Ambulance and Clinical Early Response (PACER) is based within Camperdown Acute Care Service and will provide a highly mobile, recovery orientated clinical advice, consultancy and support to NSW Police (South Sydney Local Area Command) managing mental health issues in the community.

The PACER Clinician is a response requested by an operational police unit and provides mental health intervention and undertakes triage, primary consumer assessment and management of complex mental health emergencies and crises at an advanced level.

The position requires extensive knowledge of mental health disorders and demonstrated clinical practices to provide support, treatment, coordination and education to emergency services who work with consumers with complex mental and physical health needs. The role will work evenings and weekends. Initially the role will be 8 hour shifts and there may be developments to extend shifts to match Police Services shifts.

Ideal Candidate

- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Psychology or Nursing, AHPRA registration or membership to appropriate Professional Association if required. Clinical psychologist must hold a post graduate degree in Clinical Psychology and CNC must have a minimum of five (5) years post registration experience with at least (3) years full time equivalent mental health experience and tertiary qualifications relevant to mental health care or relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience working across inpatient and community sites, and experience in ensuring integrated care and effective partnerships with Police and Ambulance Services.
- Demonstrated advanced skills in the comprehensive assessment and management of complex mental health consumers in the community, including assessment and advanced skills in clinical risk mitigation.
- Current NSW Driver's Licence (P2 Licence acceptable).
