Senior Cloud Architects / Cloud Engineers – Australian Government

Really Awesome People is seeking experienced Cloud Architects and Cloud Engineers to support the delivery of major ICT initiatives for a Commonwealth Government department.

This prospect would suit senior Azure professionals who can combine strong hands-on cloud capability with architecture, technical leadership and effective stakeholder engagement.

The opportunity

- Initial 12-month contract
- Two potential 12-month extensions
- Up to 40 hours per week
- Remote arrangements may be considered
- Must be able to obtain an Australian Government Baseline security clearance
- Expected commencement: 19 October 2026

Key responsibilities

- Develop enterprise cloud platform architectures for Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365
- Develop high-level solution architectures and detailed engineering guidance
- Design and support secure cloud-based systems and integrations
- Provide technical guidance across Azure networking, security and identity
- Support Infrastructure as Code, automated testing, CI/CD and platform automation
- Work with business owners, architects, developers, analysts, testers and delivery teams
- Ensure solutions align with whole-of-government standards and the DTA Digital Service Standard




- Provide technical leadership and mentor other team members

Required experience Applicants should have at least five years’ experience implementing or managing cloud systems, including substantial experience with:

- Azure App Services, Functions and Logic Apps
- Azure SQL, Service Bus and API Management
- Azure DevOps, repositories, Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD
- Microsoft Entra ID, Key Vault, Azure Monitor and Application Insights
- Azure networking, Private Endpoints and role-based access control
- Integration with third-party platforms, including Microsoft Dynamics 365
- Agile, multidisciplinary delivery environments
- Enterprise or application-level Azure architecture

Experience with AWS or Google Cloud will be viewed favourably but is not essential. Candidates must provide a current CV and a one-page suitability pitch addressing the role criteria.
