A well-established, independent Sydney law firm is seeking an experienced Employment lawyer to join and help lead its growing Employment, Workplace Relations and Safety practice, at either Special Counsel or Partner level.

This is a genuine opportunity to step into a senior role with real autonomy, working closely with the firm's leadership team to shape the strategic direction of the practice. You will bring deep technical expertise across the full spectrum of employment law, a solid personal following or established networks, and the credibility to mentor and grow a team. The level and structure of the role will be shaped around the right person, rather than the other way around.

About the role

- Lead and develop the firm's Employment practice in Sydney, setting technical and service standards for the team
- Provide expert advice across the full range of employment law, including Fair Work Act compliance, enterprise bargaining, unfair dismissal, general protections, discrimination and workplace health and safety
- Originate and convert new client work, leveraging existing networks and building lasting relationships with employer clients
- Lead, mentor and develop junior lawyers within the practice




- Play a central role in the firm's growth strategy and broader practice development

About you

- Admitted to practise in NSW, with substantial post-admission experience in employment law at Special Counsel or Partner level
- A demonstrable client following and/or established networks across key Sydney industry sectors
- A proven track record of originating and converting new client work
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- A commercially grounded, practical approach to advice, with a reputation for delivering results employers value
- Recognition in leading legal directories (such as Doyle's Guide or Best Lawyers) would be well regarded
