The role
We are seeking a Senior Estimator to join our collaborative and energetic team. Working across a diverse range of construction tenders for medium to large complex projects, this is a leadership role supporting the Estimating Manager, with a strong emphasis on tender strategy, technical review of subcontract and supplier quotations, and mentoring within the estimating team.
About you
You will hold a degree qualification in an industry-specific discipline and have a minimum of 5 years estimating experience (or 10 years' experience in a relevant industry role suitable for transition into senior estimating). You will be able to demonstrate strong subcontractor market coverage, build up costs from first principles, and manage multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities and Capabilities
- Develop tender strategies and secure competitive tenders and bids using current market costing and historical data.
- Accept responsibility for the financial and technical review of tenders, including evaluation of sub-contract and supplier quotations.
- Review tender estimates prior to formal Tender Review and report on price competitiveness.
- Compile risk and opportunity assessments, considering logistics,
trade buying and market impacts on labour and material costs.
- Organise and lead tender price meetings, including preliminaries, trades, initial close and final close.
- Monitor cost plans as design evolves, obtaining engineering consultant and subcontract assessments throughout.
- Attend contract review with Senior Executives and lead project start-up meetings.
- Support the attraction and development of estimating team talent, sharing skills and expertise across the team.
- Develop strong working relationships with clients and consultants to identify future tender opportunities.
- Engage in post-tender clarifications and reviews to ensure pricing accuracy.
