The Opportunity

Veris are seeking an experienced consultant to join our Data Insights & Solutions team, based in Melbourne. In this role, you will be delivering spatial and geospatial analysis services across a range of projects, with a strong focus on resourcing, and team development.

This is a people and clients role, while a solid working knowledge of GIS platforms (Esri, Octave, QGIS or FME) is expected, deep technical expertise is not the primary focus. We're looking for someone who combines credible technical grounding with strong people leadership and client relationship skills, and who can also contribute to identifying and winning new work for the team.

About You To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate:

- 7+ years' experience in a spatial/geospatial discipline, with demonstrated readiness to step into a formal people leadership role
- Working knowledge of major GIS platforms; deep technical/scripting expertise is not required but desirable
- Genuine motivation to move into people management, with the ability to lead, coach, and develop a small team




- Confidence taking day-to-day responsibility for a small team: workload allocation, resourcing decisions, and being a first point of contact for your people
- Solid client-facing skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and multidisciplinary project teams
- Experience contributing to work-winning activities, such as supporting proposals, scoping, or identifying opportunities with existing clients
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to balance people leadership, client needs, and project delivery
- Sound judgement in resourcing decisions across projects and competing priorities
