Lead complex and sensitive investigations into allegations of improper conduct that strengthen integrity, accountability and public confidence across the Northern Territory.

The Independent Commissioner Against Corruption (ICAC) operates within the Office of the Integrity and Ethics Commissioner (OIEC), as an independent statutory body responsible for preventing, detecting, investigating and responding to improper conduct involving public officers, public bodies and recipients of government funding. Through its investigative functions, ICAC plays a critical role in safeguarding integrity, accountability and public confidence across the Northern Territory while supporting a transparent and accountable public sector.

Why This Role?

Few investigation roles offer the breadth, complexity and public impact available within ICAC Operations. This position provides the opportunity to investigate sensitive allegations of improper conduct, exercise statutory powers, contribute to strategic investigative outcomes and support the delivery of an independent integrity function that strengthens accountability across the Northern Territory.

About the Role

As a Senior Investigator, you will play a pivotal role in progressing investigations into the most complex and sensitive allegations of improper conduct. You will undertake investigations, collect and analyse information, exercise statutory powers, and prepare reports, recommendations and investigative documentation that support sound decision-making and investigative outcomes.

Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, you will contribute to investigative strategies, ensure compliance with legislative requirements and utilise a broad range of investigative techniques to progress matters effectively.

The role also provides opportunities to mentor and support investigators while contributing to the delivery of a high-performing investigations function.

About You

You bring significant experience conducting investigations, audits, reviews or evaluations within government or regulatory environments. You have a proven ability to collect, analyse and synthesise complex information, apply sound judgement, and develop explicit recommendations and outcomes. You are an effective communicator with strong interviewing, stakeholder engagement and report-writing skills, and can confidently engage with people from diverse backgrounds. You thrive in environments requiring professionalism, discretion and confidentiality, and are able to manage competing priorities while contributing positively to a high-performing team.

Qualifications in accounting, law, investigations or a related discipline, together with experience planning, undertaking or managing criminal or administrative investigations, will be highly regarded.

In return for your contributions, you will be rewarded with a competitive remuneration package inclusive of 12% superannuation,

6 weeks recreational and 3 weeks personal leave, 17.5% annual leave loading, 3 day paid shutdown over Christmas, negotiable flexible work arrangements, assistance with relocation costs, and an opportunity to experience the uniqueness of living in the Northern Territory.

If you're not currently living in the Northern Territory, now might be the perfect moment to think about relocating to Darwin.

Experience a lifestyle that offers a harmonious blend of work and leisure, giving you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the breathtaking landscapes, tropical sunsets, and mesmerising lightning shows that the Territory has to offer.
