Bring your expertise to a firm that does law differently
Moores is a values-driven law firm committed to making a genuine difference for our clients, our people and the communities we serve.
We are seeking an experienced front-end senior lawyer (5-6+ years PQE) to join our specialist Construction team. Working closely with Practice Leader Hugh Watson, you will help clients on a broad range of front-end construction matters. The team works on community housing developments, aged care and retirement villages, residential, commercial and industrial projects and independent school builds.
The team works predominately for principals but also a number of well known and well regarded builders. The team provides high quality work to all of its clients, having decided to eschew the leverage model so it can offer Practice Leader availability and support on all matters to both clients and team members.
You will get direct client engagement, an available Practice Leader who is committed developing his team and excellent client service and the chance to further develop your skills and network within a collaborative and innovative firm.
About the role
You will be responsible for advising on a broad range of construction matters, including:
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating consultancy agreements, construction contracts and ancillary documents.
- Advising on procurement strategies and project delivery models.
- Providing risk management and project delivery advice.
This role offers the opportunity to work on interesting matters for good clients doing good things, build trusted long-term relationships and accelerate your front-end construction skills.
About you
You are an experienced construction lawyer with 5-6+ years' post-admission experience and strong front-end construction expertise. Some back-end experience is helpful too. You will bring:
- Strong experience drafting and negotiating construction contracts, particularly Australian Standard contracts.
- A pragmatic, commercially focused approach and commitment to providing clear, practical advice.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- A collaborative approach and a willingness to support and mentor junior lawyers.
Most importantly, you enjoy working closely with clients and your colleagues and are keen to develop a mastery of contract drafting, negotiation and advisory. Why Moores?
At Moores, we are proud to do law differently. We are one of the first law firms in Australia to move away from timesheets and adopt value pricing, focusing on delivering value rather than measuring success by hours worked.
Our people enjoy meaningful work, genuine flexibility and the opportunity to make a positive impact through the clients and communities we serve.
You will work alongside lawyers who are encouraged to build deep client relationships, become trusted advisers and deliver practical solutions that make a genuine difference.
We offer
- Flexible and hybrid working arrangements.
- High-quality work and direct client engagement.
- Ongoing professional development and career progression opportunities.
- A collaborative and supportive environment.
- Paid parental leave and wellbeing initiatives.
- The opportunity to contribute to a firm committed to innovation, inclusion, social impact and helping clients create stronger communities and a better built environment.
Ready to apply? If you are looking for a role that combines high-quality front-end construction work, genuine flexibility and a values-driven culture, we'd love to hear from you. Apply via moores.com.au/careers
