Senior Legal Counsel

Join a leading, highly regulated organisation as a Senior Legal Counsel and play a key role in providing commercially focused legal advice across a broad and complex business.

Reporting to senior leadership, you will act as a trusted legal advisor to senior stakeholders, supporting commercial activities, strategic initiatives, transactions, governance and regulatory matters. You will work closely with business leaders to navigate complex legal issues, manage risk and deliver practical solutions that support the organisation's commercial objectives.

This is a highly visible role offering the opportunity to work across a diverse range of legal matters while influencing business decisions and contributing to the ongoing development of the legal function.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide commercially focused legal advice across corporate, commercial, regulatory, privacy, consumer and operational matters.
- Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including technology, procurement, outsourcing, confidentiality and strategic arrangements.
- Support complex legal initiatives and strategic projects, identifying legal risks and providing practical solutions.
- Advise senior stakeholders on legal and regulatory obligations, emerging risks, governance matters and legislative change.
- Oversee litigation, disputes, investigations and external legal providers, including legal expenditure and service delivery.
- Contribute to legal risk management, governance frameworks, policies,



training and continuous improvement across the organisation.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

- Australian-admitted solicitor with 5+ years' post-admission experience gained in private practice, in-house or a highly regulated setting.
- Strong corporate and commercial legal experience, with exposure to regulatory, privacy, consumer or governance matters.
- Must have financial services experience.
- Demonstrated experience advising senior executives and stakeholders on complex legal, commercial and regulatory matters.
- Strong commercial acumen, judgement and ability to balance legal and regulatory risk with business objectives.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to provide clear, practical and commercially focused advice.
