The Deadly Ears Occupational Therapist works together with families and communities to ensure children have the best opportunities to participate and engage in occupations that bring meaning and purpose to their life - such as play, sport, learning, daily routines, social, cultural and community activities.

About the Role

Provide high level occupational therapy services embedded within the Deadly Kids, Deadly Futures framework (see: https://www.childrens.health.qld.gov.au/chq/our-services/community-health-services/deadly-ears/deadly-kids-deadly-futures/ ).This includes collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to develop, deliver and evaluate: Workforce development and organisational capacity building strategies for health, early years and education services and staff that support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children experiencing conductive hearing loss to participate in meaningful childhood occupations.

Health promotion initiatives to promote community and service provider understanding of the impacts of conductive hearing loss on child development, occupational engagement and participation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families.

- Continually develop high quality occupational therapy clinical skills to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children with conductive hearing loss and their families, and apply these skills by:
- Participating in and delivering clinical supervision, professional development and in-service education.
- Contributing to the planning, implementation, and evaluation of service improvement projects.
- Contributing to the development or review of local, state, and national occupational therapy clinical policies,



protocols and guidelines related to working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children with conductive hearing loss and their families and communities.
