THE ROLE The Senior Practice Adviser is part of the Practice Advice and Support, Children and Families team, that leads the departmental responses to Child Death Inquiries, the Coroners Court of Victoria (for child protection related matters), Department of Justice and Community Safety/Corrections Victoria (for child protection matters) and work related to the Therapeutic Treatment Board (secretariat duties).

The role requires high level written and communication skills, expert knowledge regarding Victoria's approach to child protection, excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to provide high level expert responses in a timely manner.

Experience in the operational delivery of statutory child protection services is essential for this role, as well as strong understanding of the current operational landscape for child protection and out of home care services.

The Senior Practice Adviser will contribute to a variety of work priorities within the team across all portfolios, in support of the Victorian child protection program. This will include preparation of quality written departmental responses to external stakeholders, project work, stakeholder engagement, consultation and provision of subject matter expertise.

Accountabilities Include

- Provide expert and authoritative advice, reasoned recommendations and cutting-edge program options and solutions to complex and sensitive issues.




- Build and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders, senior staff and interagency partners, including leading or participating in multidisciplinary conferences, committees and working groups to progress government and departmental objectives.
- Demonstrate high level written and communication skills; identify key messages and information required for decision-making; use various communication media to convey information, ideas and insights in ways that maximises understanding of key messages.
