Senior Project Engineer – Future Networks

Working in collaboration with energy infrastructure utilities and retail to develop the roadmap for Future Networks, the Senior Project Engineer plays a key role in flexibility service operating model design to optimise network utilisation incorporating customer energy resources.

This role will ideally suit an experienced and Electrical Project Engineer from the Transmission & Distribution sector with strong understanding of network operations, customer energy resources and the data-led innovation behind flexibility services with non-network alternatives.

Your technical background will be valued however your deliverables will be primarily focused on collaboration between multiple stakeholder groups and project management outputs of governance, reporting, management cost, schedule and risk.

Key project outcomes include

- Coordination of the joint programme, ensuring alignment across commercial, regulatory, customer and technical workstreams.
- Evaluate and prioritise network flexibility opportunities and customer energy resource use cases, to align with Future Networks & Markets strategic priorities and energy transition initiatives.
- Development of business cases, strategic plans and innovative solutions that inform the design and selection of flexibility service products, including dispatch processes, performance measures and customer participation insights.
- Contribute to Future Networks & Markets strategic priorities and energy transition initiatives.

Your background
- Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems (or equivalent) combined with some associated commercial and/or project management training.




- Foundational technical understanding and industry experience with electricity distribution networks, customer energy resources (CER), flexibility services and non-network alternatives.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks, energy markets and emerging technologies supporting the energy transition.
- Demonstrated experience with project engineering / project management in an workplace requiring executive level reporting to Steering Committee.
- A natural with data analytics, and functionally conversant with DERMS and network planning datasets will be very highly regarded.
