Primary objective The Senior Project Manager is responsible for management of all phases of delivery of assigned capital Major and Minor,
and Specific Maintenance projects.
Key duties and responsibilities
- Provide high level project management to deliver work projects aligned with budget, time and quality targets including managing all phases of design, project and contract management on assigned capital Major and Minor Works and Specific
Maintenance projects;
- Provide high level leadership to project teams, including assessing and managing internal and external resources to deliver assigned projects, building and maintaining excellent working relationships with stakeholders, establishing and leading project governance, and driving or flying to attend site inspections.
- Establish and direct administration of contracts,
ensuring compliance and providing regular reporting of project status
- Ensure projects meet the requirements of the Northern Territory (NT) Building Act 1993, National Construction Code and Australian Standards as applied in the NT.
- Carry out all duties in accordance with Departmental Work Health and Safety, Equal Employment Opportunity and environmental guidelines.
Selection criteria
Essential
- Tertiary qualification or other trade qualification related to the position’s area of specialisation, or equivalent experience directly relevant to the position.
- High level current technical knowledge and extensive experience in management and delivery of multi-discipline major works projects for building assets in a client focussed and cross-cultural setting.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in the National Construction Code and the planning and management of projects in the construction industry, including management of project human and financial resources.
- Well-developed skills and knowledge of program analysis, evaluation and reporting, and the use of information technology systems and software.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, understanding factors that may impact on program outcomes for client agencies and ensuring functional briefs are understood and match requirements.
- High level oral and written communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills with ability to exercise discretion,
initiative and confidentiality.
- High level knowledge and extensive experience in procurement, contract conditions, interpretation of legislation, and administration and supervision of contracts.

Criminal History check, PF166 clearance, Ochre Card and a White Card.
The position requires the successful applicant to travel to remote locations in a 4WD or light aircraft.
