Senior Project Officer
Grade : 9/10
Salary range : $133,348-146,945 + superannuation and leave loading
Duration : ongoing
Location : Hybrid working arrangements with mandatory office attendance currently two days per week. Office attendance requirements may increase in line with NSW Premier's Department Circulars and Department of Customer Service versatile working policies.
Deliver critical telecommunications and technology projects that support public safety and connectivity outcomes across NSW. As a Senior Project Officer, you will lead and coordinate infrastructure, telecommunications and technology projects, ensuring initiatives are delivered on time, within budget and to a high standard while supporting NSW's critical communications networks.
About the team
This role sits within the Enterprise Program Delivery team in NSW Telco Authority.
The team operates within the Digital, Technology and Innovation division and delivers critical programs and projects that keep NSW's emergency, essential and government services connected. The team leads construction, technology and transformation initiatives that support the NSW Public Safety Network and strengthen mission-critical operational communications across the state.
Your responsibilities will include
- Leading the planning, coordination and delivery of complex telecommunications, technology and infrastructure projects
- Managing project schedules, budgets, risks, issues and dependencies to ensure successful delivery outcomes
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with customers, stakeholders, vendors and delivery partners
- Coordinating working groups, committees and project governance activities to support project milestones and outcomes
- Preparing and maintaining project documentation, reports, briefs and status updates
- Monitoring project performance and identify opportunities to improve delivery outcomes and mitigate risks
- Undertaking research and analysis to support evidence-based decision-making and project planning

- Essential Security Clearance: You will be able to obtain and retain minimum Baseline Security clearance within six months to work with sensitive government and critical communications information
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications or demonstrated professional experience in project delivery, with certifications such as PRINCE2 Practitioner, PMP or equivalent highly regarded
- Strong project management capability with experience planning and delivering complex projects within technology, telecommunications or related environments
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers, stakeholders and vendors
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to coordinate working groups, governance activities and competing priorities
- Experience preparing and managing project documentation, reporting and project management systems
- Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills
Desirable
- Understanding of the telecommunications industry and ability to understand technical terminology
- Qualifications or educational background in engineering, telecommunications or a related technical field
- Experience delivering projects within government, infrastructure or critical communications environments
