Urban Advisers
New South Wales
Job Description
We want someone who owns the outcome. Not someone who monitors it.
n
Urban Advisers is a planning, engineering and project-delivery consultancy. Urban Advisers is led by Alyce Kliese, a dual-qualified planning lawyer and civil engineer, and Mark Cremona, a civil engineer with more than 25 years' experience delivering complex infrastructure and development projects.
n
The role
n
You'll be appointed as Superintendent or Principal's Representative on land development and civil construction projects. This isn't a role where you fill in the register and send the emails. We want someone who drives the outcome - who understands what the contract says and what it means commercially, makes defensible decisions, and sees problems coming before they land in the client's lap.
n
You will:
n
n
- administer construction contracts (AS4000, AS2124, AS4902 or equivalent), including claims, variations and EOTs - promptly and decisively;
n
- track actual programme performance and drive corrective action, not just review the contractor's updates;
n
- drive RFI's proactively using your engineering and construction experience;
n
- forecast commercial and time risk early and act to mitigate it;
n
- lead site inspections, progress meetings and the council and authority interface;
n
- own practical completion, defects management and project finalisation; and
n
- produce client reporting that is decision-useful, not just informative.
n
n
Who we're looking for
n
You'll need a Civil Engineering degree, at least 6 years' post‐graduate experience in civil construction or land development, and demonstrated experience operating independently as a Superintendent or Contract Administrator - not just assisting one. Strong contract knowledge, solid civil works experience and a current driver's licence and White Card are essential.
n
Beyond the technical: we want someone who takes ownership. Someone who doesn't consider the job done because the progress claim has been processed or the meeting minutes sent. Someone who can make a decision, put their name to it, and explain why.
n
What you get
n
n
- A very market-competitive salary package - we're looking for someone genuinely excellent and we'll pay accordingly.
n
- Real flexibility - we care about delivery and quality, not presenteeism.
n
- Cross‐disciplinary exposure - you'll work alongside planners, lawyers and project managers, not just engineers.
n
- A genuine opportunity to help build the project delivery practice - the clients we work with, the standards we set, the team we grow.
n
- Career progression without waiting for someone above you to leave - we're growing.
n
n
If you're a civil engineer with genuine independent Superintendent experience and the idea of helping build something excellent appeals to you, we'd like to hear from you.
