The role

We have a 12-month, full-time parental leave contract for a Senior Licensing Solicitor to join our Licensing team within the Regulation Division. The team upholds the integrity of the legal profession and protects the public by assessing practitioner suitability and managing complex regulatory matters under the Legal Profession Act 2007 (Qld).

This is a chance to apply your legal expertise differently, working at the intersection of regulation, professional standards and public interest, with real influence on decisions and policy that shape the profession.

In this role you will:

- Investigate and assess complex matters affecting a practitioner's suitability to practise, with sound judgement and procedural fairness
- Prepare high-quality submissions and briefing materials for regulatory decisions
- Provide expert legal advice on complex, sensitive matters
- Manage a diverse portfolio of matters, balancing competing priorities
- Build strong relationships with regulators, government agencies and the profession
- Contribute to regulatory policy and best-practice process improvements

Ideally, you will have:

- A Bachelor of Laws and 6-7+ years' post-admission experience




- Private practice experience in litigation, commercial, tax, insolvency or administrative law
- Strong analytical and investigative skills to assess evidence and form balanced recommendations
- Excellent written communication, including legal advice, submissions or decision-making materials
- Confidence to work autonomously and as part of a team, and manage sensitive matters
- A current (or eligible) Queensland practising certificate
- Experience in professional disciplinary or regulatory mattes will be highly regarded
