Senior Systems Analyst

Role: Senior Systems Analyst

Experience Level: Senior – EL1 equivalent

Buyer: Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC)

Location: ACT (Onsite Canberra); remote up to 2 days/week negotiable after 6 months

Estimated Start Date: Monday, 16 November 2026

Contract: 12 months initial, with 1 x 12-month extension option

Maximum Hours: 40 hours per week

Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain NV1 (Negative Vetting Level 1)

Background The Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) provides unique, actionable and insightful intelligence to combat the threats Australia faces from transnational serious and organised crime. ACIC is part of the Department of Home Affairs portfolio and is a member of the Five Eyes Law Enforcement Group and National Intelligence Community. ACIC's purpose is to protect Australia from serious crime threats by collecting, assessing and disseminating intelligence and policing information.

Role Overview

ACIC has a requirement for a Senior Systems Analyst to support a priority project in the delivery of a new intelligence analysis capability, replacing the existing Palantir Gotham platform. The crucial role of the Senior Systems Analyst will be to elicit and document the technical requirements, lead the identification of a solution that specifically meets ACIC's requirements, and work in the design and implementation of the solution, working closely with the selected vendor, business stakeholders, technical teams and project resources.





Key Duties and Responsibilities

- Lead the management and maintenance of business and technical requirements in Azure DevOps in accordance with the Agile methodology.
- Support solution design activities to ensure alignment with business, operational and technical needs.
- Work collaboratively with business stakeholders, project teams, vendors and technical specialists to deliver project outcomes.
- Facilitate system integration, data migration, testing and deployment activities.
- Analyse complex business processes and identify opportunities for capability improvement and optimisation.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation, including requirements specifications, design artefacts, test plans and operational procedures.
- Support change, release and implementation activities to ensure successful transition into production.
- Identify, manage and escalate project risks, issues and dependencies as required.
- Provide expert advice and recommendations on system design, functionality and implementation approaches.
- Ensure solutions comply with ACIC's security, information management, architecture and governance requirements.
- Support knowledge transfer activities and contribute to the ongoing sustainment and enhancement of the capability.

Essential Criteria

- Proven experience in the gathering, analysis,



evaluation and documentation, management and maintenance of high-quality business and system requirements.
- Proven experience or the ability to participate in a complex multi-stage procurement process.
- Proven experience in building and maintaining strong relationships with staff, project resources and vendor resources in the delivery of recent capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills, including proven experience representing the work area in meetings, workshop facilitation and contributing to briefings for senior internal or external stakeholders.
- Understanding of whole-of-life costs to the Commonwealth.

Desirable Criteria

- Experience in the use of Azure DevOps for the management and maintenance of requirements using the Agile methodology.

Security and Work Location Candidates must be able to obtain NV1 (Negative Vetting Level 1). This role requires candidates to be onsite in Canberra; working remotely up to two (2) days per week may be negotiated after six (6) months, subject to approval and in accordance with the ACIC Home Based Work Policy.
