We are seeking a skilled Sheet Metal Worker to join our manufacturing team in Newcastle, New South Wales. This permanent, full time position is essential for producing high-quality metal components that meet our clients' specifications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sheet metal fabrication and a commitment to safety and quality standards, contributing to our reputation for excellence in the industry.
Key responsibilities include:
- Read and interpret drawings, sketches, job cards, work instructions and specifications to determine material, equipment and fabrication requirements.
- Measure, mark out and set up sheet metal materials used by JLE Manufacturing & Hire.
- Fabricate and assemble components for JLE manufacturing, hire equipment, project works, repairs and modifications.
- Operate machinery and equipment safely where trained and authorised.
- Complete accurate measurement and quality checks to ensure finished work meets JLE standards, customer requirements and job specifications.
- Finish fabricated products by grinding, filing, sanding, polishing, cleaning and preparing surfaces for coating, delivery, hire use or installation.
- Assist with workshop fit-out, assembly, maintenance, repair, modification and preparation of fabricated items and hire assets as required.
- Support site installation, service and repair activities when required, following JLE site requirements and customer procedures.
- Report material shortages, equipment faults, quality concerns, hazards and production issues to the Workshop Manager, Supervisor or relevant JLE representative.

What you'll bring
Essential:
- Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade, Certificate III Boilermaker – Fabrication, Sheet Metal trade qualification, or equivalent recognised trade experience.
- Demonstrated experience in sheet metal fabrication, workshop fabrication or a related metal manufacturing environment.
- Current Drivers Licence
- White card
- Ability to safely operate relevant fabrication tools and machinery within training and authorisation limits.
- Sound understanding of workplace health and safety requirements in a manufacturing or workshop environment.
Desirable:
- First Aid.
- Forklift Licence.
- Experience working in a manufacturing, hire, mining, industrial, electrical infrastructure or project fabrication environment.
