The Role – SMP Construction Manager
We are seeking an experienced SMP Construction Manager to oversee Structural, Mechanical and Piping (SMP) construction activities on a long-term project in Western Australia. The project incorporates transfer stations, conveyor systems and filtration infrastructure and forms part of a new gallium production development.
As SMP Construction Manager, you will provide leadership across construction activities and packages, with a strong focus on safe execution, schedule, budget, quality and successful project delivery.
This prospect would suit an experienced construction professional with a strong background in large-scale process plants, materials handling infrastructure and complex SMP construction environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the delivery of SMP construction packages.
- Monitor construction budgets, schedules and overall package performance.
- Coordinate structural, mechanical and piping construction activities.
- Oversee works associated with transfer stations, conveyors and filtration systems.
- Drive safe execution and actively contribute to safety improvement initiatives.
- Monitor construction progress and identify and resolve delivery issues.
- Ensure construction activities meet relevant project and safety requirements.
- Provide leadership and clear communication across project stakeholders.
- Read, interpret and work from technical drawings and construction documentation.
- Maintain a strong focus on quality, detail and successful project outcomes.
About You
To be considered for this position, you will be able to demonstrate:
- Previous Construction Manager, Construction Coordinator or Supervisor experience delivering major projects.
- Proven SMP construction experience across structural, mechanical and piping works.
- Experience working within large-scale process or materials handling plants.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes and equipment.
- Experience with conveyor systems is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to manage construction schedules and budgets.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships across all levels of a project.
- Excellent organisational, problem-solving and attention-to-detail skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- A solid commitment to environment, health and safety and safe project delivery.
- Relevant construction management qualifications or certifications.
The Project
The gallium project will establish a new gallium production plant in Western Australia, bringing together government and industry partners from Australia, Japan and the United States. The development is expected to create up to 200 local construction jobs and approximately 20 permanent roles once operational, contributing to the development of a new source of gallium for the global critical minerals supply chain.
