OneStep Group is looking for a Solutions and Data Consultant to join our Perth team and help clients turn complex data challenges into practical, trusted analytics solutions.

This is a hands-on consulting role focused on Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, SQL Server, cloud data platforms, data integration, reporting modernisation and modern data architecture.

You’ll work closely with clients and internal teams to design, build and optimise data, analytics and business intelligence solutions that improve decision-making, operational performance and business outcomes.

We’re looking for someone who can bring together technical depth, consulting capability and clear communication; someone who enjoys understanding a business problem, shaping a pragmatic solution and delivering work clients can rely on.

What you’ll be doing In this role, you’ll deliver modern data and analytics engagements across enterprise and government clients, from discovery and design through to build, testing, documentation, deployment and transition to support.

In this role, you’ll:

- Design and implement modern analytics solutions using Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse, Warehouse, OneLake, Dataflows Gen2, Pipelines and semantic models
- Build, enhance and optimise Power BI reports, dashboards, semantic models and enterprise reporting solutions
- Develop data models, DAX calculations, Power Query transformations and reusable reporting assets
- Design and maintain data pipelines, dataflows and integration patterns across cloud services, SQL databases, business applications and other source systems
- Design, deliver and support API integrations that connect data platforms, business applications and third-party systems
- Work closely with clients and stakeholders to understand objectives,
- requirements, data challenges and desired outcomes
- Assess current-state data and reporting environments and recommend practical architecture, analytics and modernisation roadmaps
- Support data governance, security, access management, documentation and quality controls across reporting and analytics solutions
- Contribute to solution design, technical documentation, demonstrations, estimates, proposals and pre-sales activity




- Identify opportunities to improve solutions, add value for clients and support new business growth
- Experience in migration from Legacy Systems like infoworks and Legacy SQL to Cloud is an advantage

What you’ll bring

You’ll likely have a strong mix of data, analytics, reporting and consulting experience, with the confidence to translate client requirements into clear, practical solution designs.

You’ll likely bring:

- Experience delivering data, analytics, business intelligence or reporting solutions
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric capabilities such as Lakehouse, Warehouse, OneLake, Dataflows Gen2, Pipelines, notebooks, semantic models and workspace management
- Strong experience designing, building and optimising Power BI reports, dashboards, datasets and semantic models
- Advanced Power BI skills including DAX, Power Query, data modelling, row-level security, scheduled refresh, deployment pipelines and performance tuning
- Ability to develop and maintain SQL code, including queries, stored procedures, views, tables, functions and indexes
- Experience with data engineering concepts, ETL/ELT, data integration, transformation, migration and data quality practices
- Understanding of modern data architecture, including lakehouse and warehouse patterns, medallion architecture, semantic modelling and governed self-service analytics
- Strong communication skills and confidence working with technical stakeholders, business users, vendors and internal teams
- A practical consulting mindset, commercial awareness and the ability to manage work across multiple concurrent engagements

It’d be great if you also have experience with:

- Microsoft certifications are an advantage, such as Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate, Power BI Data Analyst Associate or Azure Data Engineer Associate




- Experience with Microsoft Purview, data cataloguing, lineage, sensitivity labels or broader data governance tooling
- Experience with Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL, Azure Synapse, Databricks, Python, Spark or other modern data engineering technologies
- Experience with real-time analytics, machine learning, AI-enabled reporting or advanced analytics use cases
- Product knowledge across Microsoft cloud, Microsoft 365, Azure, Power Platform, Fabric and related data and analytics services
- Experience contributing to reusable accelerators, templates, standards or managed services offerings for data and analytics solutions
