Senior Projects Lawyer (Fixed-Term Contract)
Role Overview
Elevate is partnering with a top-tier law firm to recruit an experienced lawyer for an initial 6-month fixed-term secondment, with a possible 6-month extension. Working within the mining and metals sector, the successful candidate will support complex project claims and dispute matters across multiple projects. The position is based in Perth or Brisbane and offers an immediate start.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the management of complex construction and infrastructure disputes and claims.
- Advise on contractual rights, obligations, risk allocation, and dispute avoidance strategies.
- Assist with project claims preparation, assessment, and resolution.
- Draft and review legal correspondence, claims documentation, dispute notices, and settlement agreements.
- Work closely with project stakeholders to identify and mitigate legal and commercial risks.
- Support adjudication, arbitration, litigation, and alternative dispute resolution processes where required.
- Provide strategic legal advice across multiple live projects.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve commercial outcomes.
- Conduct legal research and prepare concise advice on construction, projects, and dispute-related matters.
About You
- A minimum of 5+ years of post-admission experience, with strong expertise in construction and projects law.
- Demonstrated experience in construction disputes, project claims, adjudication, arbitration, or litigation.
- Experience spanning both project delivery and construction disputes is preferred; however, candidates with strong back-end claims and disputes experience will be highly regarded.
- Commercially minded with excellent drafting, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple matters across complex projects and provide practical,
solutions-focused advice in a fast-paced environment.
