Strength and Conditioning Coach
Independent Contractor - Part time The Armidale School (TAS) is seeking an experienced Strength & Conditioning Coach to support students' physical development, sporting performance, and wellbeing across our sporting program. The Coach will design and deliver age-appropriate strength, conditioning and movement-based programs for individual athletes, teams and sporting squads, with a focus on developing strength, power, speed, agility, endurance, mobility and movement efficiency. This role supports TAS's vision of Excellence inspired by Character and Built through Challenge, helping students develop physical capability, resilience, self-discipline and confidence.
This part-time contracted position comprises approximately 30 hours per week during term time, including around 22 hours of direct student coaching, supervision, and training delivery. The remaining hours will be dedicated to program design, athlete monitoring, performance assessment, administration, equipment management, and maintaining a safe, well-organised training workplace. The role also includes delivery of a two-hour weekend session at the discretion of the Head of Sport and Activities, which may include mobility and injury prevention.
The Coach will work collaboratively with sports coaches, teaching staff, physiotherapists, medical professionals and school leadership to provide a coordinated and evidence-based approach to student-athlete development.
Responsibilities include athlete testing and monitoring, maintaining training records, supporting injury prevention and recovery,
assisting with post-injury rehabilitation and return-to-sport protocols and ensuring the safe use and organisation of the gymnasium and training facilities. The Coach will foster a positive and inclusive training environment for students of all abilities and contribute to a school culture that values Connection, Courage and Commitment, while supporting the physical activity, wellbeing and personal growth of students.
The Contractor will hold relevant tertiary qualifications in Exercise Science, Human Movement, Sport Science, Strength & Conditioning or a related discipline, together with demonstrated experience delivering strength and conditioning programs for adolescent athletes and sound knowledge of youth athletic development and injury prevention.
Current First
Aid and CPR qualifications, a current NSW Working with Children Check, and appropriate professional indemnity and public liability insurance are required. ASCA accreditation or equivalent recognised professional accreditation is desirable. The successful contractor will be required to comply with TAS policies, workplace health and safety requirements, and child safeguarding obligations, while demonstrating a commitment to the Anglican values and ethos of the School.
