About the role The Airborne Survey Pilot is responsible for both aircraft positioning and flying the Company aircraft on low-level Geophysical Survey operations. All activities are undertaken in accordance with project, safety and procedural requirements whilst taking an active role in promoting the safe and economical functioning of projects. The role requires ongoing in-field rotations of varying duration, located both in Australia and Internationally.

The Airborne Survey

Pilot is directly responsible for the Pilot and/or Co-Pilots and other personnel on the aircraft while in operation.

Key responsibilities

- Takes all reasonable steps to maintain familiarity with all relevant aviation regulations, notices, circulars, procedures and the contents of the Flight Operations Manual
- Is responsible for the safe operation of the aeroplane, safety of its occupants and property carried during flight time
- Has authority to give all commands deemed necessary for the purpose of securing the safety of the aeroplane and of persons or property carried therein
- Ensures that all standard operating procedures and checklists are complied with in accordance with the Flight Operations Manual and Aviation Authority Regulations
- Contributes to Project Safety Plans and Risk Assessments




- Advises other Pilots and junior members of staff as needed on operational and safety matters
- Undertakes training type duties in accordance with company and/or Aviation Authority approval
- Ensures that all documents and manuals as specified in the Flight Operations Manual are carried and remain valid throughout the flight or series of flights
- Maintains a high standard of discipline, conduct and appearance as a representative of Xcalibur Aviation (Australia) Pty Ltd
- Provision of all required records of flight training and daily flight and duty information for upload to the Air operations management system

About you

- Hold and maintain a valid Commercial Pilot licence for the aircraft type and registration being operated
- Meet company Fixed-wing Standard minimum: Minimum 1,500 hours total flight time
- Minimum 2 years geophysical survey experience
- Minimum 5 years aviation experience
- Positive navigational skills
- Demonstrated flight planning abilities
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and strong communication skills
- Declared medically fit to fly by a Designated Aviation Medical Examiner
- Excellent management skills and interpersonal skills with ability to resolve conflict
- Teamwork capability with intercultural awareness
