The City of Swan is looking for a passionate and proactive Sustainable Environment Officer to join our Strategic Planning Business Unit. In this dynamic role, you will be the driving force behind implementing and integrating key actions from our Sustainable Environment Strategy. From conducting impactful research and shaping innovative policy to managing key local projects, you will have the unique opportunity to directly influence both council operations and our wider community to support the City’s ambitious environmental objectives.

This position is perfect for a collaborative, self-motivated professional who thrives on building robust relationships with immediate team members, internal council staff, and diverse external stakeholders. Reporting to the Sustainable Environmental Coordinator, you will take the lead on critical policy and projects related to biodiversity retention, water efficiency, and carbon reduction. As you will be at the forefront of designing new program ideas and strategic directions, your ability to display initiative, think creatively, and lead stakeholder engagement is essential.

Key accountabilities include, but are not limited to;

- Research, develop and implement ideas, policy/program directions and actions as defined within the 7 key focus areas of the City of Swan’s Sustainable Environment Strategy
- Build and contribute to the development and maintenance of effective relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
- Development of project briefs for contractor or consultant delivery and supervision of consultants and contractors to ensure deliverable outcomes
- Collaborate with relevant City staff to prepare promotional material including website content, media releases, advertisement copy and photographs
- Assist in the delivery of a program of sustainable environment themed events and activities for City of Swan’s staff and communities





About you The successful candidate will have the following:

- Tertiary qualification at a Bachelor Degree level in a relevant field
- 3 - 5 years of experience in a related field (desirable)
- Practical experience of managing projects involving multiple stakeholders
- Ability to demonstrate initiative, negotiation, collaboration and relationship management skills in project/program delivery
- Current ‘C’ class driver’s license
- A satisfactory National Police Certificate is required.

About working with us The salary for this position will be from $97,690.06 to $116,436.70 per annum, depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
