About the chance

As a Senior Engineer, you will lead the delivery of civil construction and maintenance projects across Council's construction and maintenance projects. You'll provide expert technical advice, consultative support and be involved in the initiation and formulation of works programs which impact on Council’s goals and objectives.

What you'll do

- Control and coordinate civil construction and maintenance works programs.
- Perform complex functions related to civil construction and maintenance projects.
- Provide advice on policy matters and contribute to policy development.
- Provide expert technical advice and develop work practices and procedures.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to graduate engineers, technical officers and engineering students undertaking work experience.
- Provide excellent customer service with the ability to provide accurate and timely advice.
- Report on progress of programs and projects, particularly relating to time and financial performance.
- Actively contribute and be responsible for the development and implementation of new techniques, practices and methodologies through technology and innovation opportunities.
- Work in accordance with the approved safety, quality and environmental procedures and policies.

What you'll bring

You'll bring the mandatory qualifications, training and experience, as outlined below:

- Bachelor Degree in Engineering (Civil) from a recognised University.
- Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ), or ability to obtain RPEQ within 12 months of appointment (this will be a condition of appointment).
- Current unrestricted ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence.
- WHS Competency (White Card) for CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry, or equivalent, or a willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
- Extensive relevant experience in a civil construction environment preferably in Local Government.
- Understanding of and commitment to Council’s Organisational Value and Behaviour of Accountability.

About Construction & Maintenance South

The Construction and Maintenance South Branch forms part of the Infrastructure Services Group (ISG) and is responsible for developing and maintaining community infrastructure including stormwater drainage/culverts, footpath/cycleway and road and bridge infrastructure assets. The primary service objective is to ensure the abovementioned asset classes are developed and maintained in a coordinated and integrated manner.

The Construction & Maintenance South Branch plays a crucial role in driving capital and operational works projects across the Darling Downs.
