Vibe: Zero corporate fluff, genuine tight-knit team support and, yes, Oodies, pet cameos and regular “pupdates” are actively encouraged during internal Teams calls.
Hey there! (Looking for a change?)
Let’s be real for a second: you’ve been an OT for a couple of years now. You know how rewarding the work can be, but you also know what happens when unrealistic caseloads, constant KPI pressure and endless administration start getting in the way of actually helping people.
Maybe you’re looking for a workplace where you’re trusted to do your job, supported when you need it and given the freedom to grow without someone hovering over your shoulder with a stopwatch.
If that sounds like you, come join us at Pelorus OT.
We’re a fast-growing, down-to-earth allied health team that has doubled in size every year, and we’re turning four. Our crew of 11 includes OTs, AHAs and Speech Pathologist, and we’re looking for an experienced OT to help us support our growing community caseload across Melbourne’s northern and western suburbs.
You’ll work with a varied caseload through community visits and telehealth, while collaborating with clients, families, support teams and our wider multidisciplinary team. Wherever possible, we’ll work with you to shape your caseload around your location, experience and clinical interests.
Why You’ll Actually Love Working Here
- The Unicorn Retention Rate: Most people who have joined Pelorus are still with us, and we’re incredibly proud of that. We genuinely look after one another, keep workloads sustainable and pay attention before stress becomes burnout.
- A Proper Start: Having experience doesn’t mean we’ll hand you a full caseload and a login password on day one, then wish you luck. Your first few weeks will focus on getting to know our systems, processes, clients and team. Your caseload will build at a sensible pace while you settle in.
- No KPI Obsession: We’re a relaxed team that trusts people to work professionally and do the right thing. We use metrics to make sure workloads remain sustainable,
not to monitor whether you blinked for too long on a Tuesday afternoon. If you’re supporting your clients well, communicating with the team and keeping on top of your responsibilities, KPIs generally don’t need to enter the conversation.
- True Flexibility & WFH: Your home is your office base. Join our internal Teams calls in your favourite comfy clothes, share the occasional pet cameo or much-needed “pupdate,” and head out for mobile community sessions or deliver telehealth from home where appropriate.
- Autonomy Without Isolation: You’ve built clinical experience, and we’ll respect it. You’ll have the autonomy to manage your work and make clinical decisions without being micromanaged, while still having experienced OTs available when you want to talk through a complex case, report or recommendation.
- Support That Doesn’t Disappear Once You’re Experienced: Support isn’t reserved only for graduates. You’ll have access to regular supervision, clinical guidance, report support and a Head OT who genuinely wants you to continue developing into the clinician you want to become.
- A Multidisciplinary Team: You’ll collaborate with OTs, AHAs, a Speech Pathologist and other team members, look at clients holistically and learn from clinicians with different backgrounds and areas of experience.
- Room to Build Something: Have an idea for a program, group, clinical resource or new way of supporting clients? We want to hear it. As Pelorus continues to grow, there are genuine opportunities to develop areas that reflect your interests and strengths, rather than simply inheriting someone else’s mould.
- Work With Heart: We’re a business,
but we’re also human. From time to time, Pelorus provides pro bono support when we believe our skills can make a meaningful difference in someone’s life. We also offer opportunities to participate in community outreach programs supporting regional communities. Participation isn’t compulsory and it isn’t another KPI; it’s simply one of the ways we try to leave our community a little better than we found it.
- The Full Setup: We kit you out with everything you need to work smoothly from home and on the road. Laptop? Work phone? Travel bag? We’ve got it covered!
- Perks That Matter: Quarterly social events during work hours, regular team connection and performance bonuses that genuinely recognise your contribution.
What We’re Looking For
- You’re a qualified Occupational Therapist with at least three years of clinical experience and current AHPRA registration.
- You’re values-led, neuro-affirming and strengths-based, and you genuinely care about connecting with clients and families.
- You’re confident managing a community caseload while also knowing when to ask for another perspective or some extra support.
- You can complete clear, clinically sound documentation and reports, and communicate effectively with clients, families and other stakeholders.
- You’re comfortable with a mix of mobile community visits and telehealth, have a current driver’s licence and access to a reliable car.
- You hold, or are willing to obtain, the relevant employment checks, including a Working with Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check and National Police Check.
- You have a cooperative, team-first attitude and a sense of humour. We take our work seriously, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously.
