CAVAL’s Language Resources is Australasia’s leading library supplier of shelf-ready community language material. We are seeking a Collection Development and Logistics Officer that will work in close collaboration with an experienced team of Collection Development Specialists and Cataloguers to support the literary needs of communities in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand by sourcing and supplying community language material to their local library.
The Role
This role is responsible for supporting the efficient allocation, processing, and distribution of library materials to customers, ensuring collections are tailored to customer profiles, language preferences, and collection requirements. With an initial focus on Chinese language materials, the successful candidate will accurately allocate resources using organisational systems, maintain effective warehouse and stock management practices, and assist with the preparation, packing, and dispatch of materials.
Key responsibilities
- Allocate incoming material to customers based on profiles, language preferences, and collection needs. Chinese material will be the initial priority
- Use inventory systems to track and process allocations
- Assist with unpacking, scanning, and shelving materials
- Help keep warehouse clear and organised
- Assist with the packaging of material for delivery to customers
- Assist with the receiving of material from suppliers
About you
- Ability to read and speak Chinese
- Excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate effectively and to work as part of a team
- Self-motivated and curious to learn new skills
- Ability to engage in manual handling and lifting tasks on a regular daily basis
- A positive and systematic approach to work practices and the ability to work with minimum supervision and to follow written operating procedures
Job Benefits
- Salary starting at $55,450 (pro-rata) plus 12% super
