We currently have an opportunity for an AI Governance TEVV Specialist in Symonston, ACT to provide specialist technical leadership that will establish and mature Army's AI Test, Evaluation, Verification and Validation (TEVV) capability. You will help ensure AI-enabled systems are secure, reliable, trustworthy, operationally effective and aligned with Defence policy, regulatory and assurance requirements.

Downer Professional Services comprises of three business units our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice, and Team Downer, which partners with CASG and NSSG as a major service provider to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for clients across Defence and National Security.

We currently have an opportunity for an AI Governance TEVV Specialist in Symonston, ACT to provide specialist technical leadership that will establish and mature Army's AI Test, Evaluation, Verification and Validation (TEVV) capability. You will help ensure AI-enabled systems are secure, reliable, trustworthy, operationally effective and aligned with Defence policy, regulatory and assurance requirements.

What You'll Do

As an AI Governance TEVV Specialist, you'll help shape how Army evaluates, governs and adopts Artificial Intelligence capabilities.

Working across Defence, industry and research partners, you'll provide specialist advice and assurance to ensure AI-enabled systems are secure, reliable, trustworthy and fit for operational use. You'll support the development of Army's AI assurance capability while helping senior stakeholders make informed decisions on emerging technologies.

Key responsibilities include:

- Supporting the development and continuous improvement of AI governance, assurance and risk management practices.
- Assessing AI-enabled systems, technical evidence, performance claims and associated risks.
- Contributing to Test, Evaluation, Verification and Validation (TEVV) activities and assurance outcomes.
- Developing governance and assurance artefacts, including AI Use Cases, Model Cards and System Cards.
- Providing clear, evidence-based advice,



reports and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Building strong relationships across Defence, industry, academia and government to support AI initiatives and capability development.

What You'll Bring

You're a technically capable AI, data or technology professional who can combine analytical thinking with practical judgement and stakeholder engagement.

You have experience working with AI, machine learning or advanced technologies and are confident assessing technical information, identifying risks and translating complex concepts into actionable advice.

You'll bring:

- Experience delivering, governing, assuring, evaluating or managing AI, machine learning or data-driven solutions.
- A strong understanding of AI technologies, their opportunities, limitations and associated risks.
- Experience applying governance, assurance, risk management, systems engineering or evaluation methodologies.
- The ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and experience working in complex environments.

Highly Valued Experience

- AI Governance, Responsible AI or AI Assurance.
- Test, Evaluation, Verification and Validation (TEVV).
- Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs) and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).
- Defence, National Security or other highly regulated environments.
- Microsoft Azure AI, AWS AI/ML or similar cloud AI platforms.
- Python and modern AI/ML frameworks.
- Model Cards, System Cards and AI assurance artefacts.

Due to the nature of the work, you must be an Australian citizen and be able to obtain and maintain an appropriate Defence security clearance. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement. More than anything, you'll bring a strong work ethic, a positive attitude,
