Your new role – Project Manager

The Project Manager is responsible for the end-to-end planning and delivery of Council projects, with a primary focus on building, construction and civil infrastructure projects.



The position may also plan and deliver other organisational projects as Council requires.

The role is accountable for taking assigned projects from initiation through to closure, including project scope, budget, schedule, procurement, contractor and consultant coordination, risk management, stakeholder communication, reporting, quality control, practical completion, defects management, handover and project close-out.

The position applies sound project management principles to ensure projects are properly scoped, planned, procured, delivered, reported and closed. The role is accountable for safe delivery, value for money, quality outcomes, sound records management, and effective handover to asset owners and operational teams.

What we’re looking for:

- Tertiary qualification in Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline; or Diploma/Advanced Diploma and substantial demonstrated experience relevant to end-to-end project delivery.

- Construction Induction (White Card); or ability to obtain before undertaking site-based duties.

- Demonstrated experience as an end-to-end project manager delivering building, construction, civil infrastructure or capital works projects.

- Demonstrated capability to manage project scope, budgets, cost forecasts, schedules, procurement, contractors, consultants, risk, quality, reporting, handover and close-out.

- Sound understanding of project management principles across initiation, planning, delivery, monitoring,



control and closure phases.

- Experience in procurement, contract administration, contractor performance management, consultant management, variations, claims, defects and contract close-out.

- Working knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, approvals, WHS obligations and compliance requirements relevant to building, construction and civil projects.

- Strong financial management capability, including budget monitoring, forecasting, expenditure control and reporting on project financial performance.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, briefings, procurement documents, project correspondence and recommendations.

- Well-developed stakeholder engagement, negotiation, issue resolution and problem-solving skills.

- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities in an setting of change, constrained resources and public accountability.

- Competent computer skills, including Microsoft 365 and project, records, financial or contract management systems.

- Understanding of asset handover, lifecycle cost, commissioning, defects management, record keeping, asset capitalisation and project closure requirements.

Salary and conditions:

- Fixed-term Full-time position (75 hours per fortnight) for 2 years.

- Central Coast Council’s Enterprise Agreement – Professional Level 4 ($67.91-$74.65 per hour/$132,426-$145,576 per annum).
