Workshop Technician

Are you a skilled technician with a strong eye for quality and a background in gas, plumbing and/or electrical principles? We are seeking an independent and motivated Workshop Technician to join our team.

In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for the repair, maintenance and conversion of Rinnai appliances, ensuring all products meet our strict quality standards. You will manage workshop stock, handle technical documentation and directly impact customer satisfaction by ensuring efficient turnarounds on repairs and credit returns.
What will you be doing?
Technical & Workshop Operations
- Conduct high-quality repairs, maintenance, and conversions on appliances brought into the workshop.
- Safely carry out gas and appliance conversions according to documented specifications.
- Assist the Technical Group in evaluating new appliances and help document technical instructions.
Returns, Quality & Stock Management
- Review returned or suspected non-conforming goods, making clear recommendations for stock to be placed either into shop soiled warehouse for resale or scrap disposal.
- Manage workshop stock movements (including main stock, shopsoil, scrap, customer repairs) and handle the quarantine of suspected non-conforming incoming goods.
- Assist with general adhoc warehouse duties as required,
including unloading of shipping containers from time to time during peak periods.
- Maintain accurate, timely records of all work carried out and share technical reports with stakeholders.
Do you have the following skills and experience?
- Sound knowledge of gas, plumbing and/or electrical principles.
- Qualifications and/or licences in restricted electrical or gas fitting (preferred though not essential).
- A technical background handling similar appliances and products (experience with Rinnai or similar brands is highly regarded).
- Solid awareness of Work Health and Safety principles in a workshop environment.
- Proven ability to manage your own workload, prioritise tasks and resolve day-to-day operational issues.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for professional interaction with staff, suppliers, and customers.
- A flexible team player who can work independently with initiative, enthusiasm and a lateral thinking style.
- A strong discipline for customer service and quality outcomes, with the confidence to negotiate appropriate solutions.
