Conveyor Reliability Specialist/Engineer
The Opportunity
The Fixed Plant Conveyor Specialist is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and optimization of conveyor systems and associated fixed plant equipment across mining operations. The role requires strong practical experience with conveyor mechanical systems, a commitment to safety and the ability to work effectively in a high-volume production environment.
The Role
- Conduct inspections, preventative maintenance and repairs on fixed plant conveyor systems.
- Maintain and troubleshoot conveyor belts, pulleys, idlers, rollers, scrapers, cleaners, tracking systems and belt drives.
- Perform belt changes, belt splicing, pulley and bearing replacements and conveyor alignment activities.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and implement effective corrective actions to minimise downtime.
- Carry out conveyor condition monitoring and identify potential failures before they impact production.
- Assist with conveyor installations, modifications, upgrades and shutdown maintenance activities.
- Ensure conveyor equipment is maintained in accordance with site maintenance strategies and manufacturer requirements.
- Complete maintenance documentation,
work orders and inspection reports accurately.
- Work closely with Maintenance, Operations and Engineering teams to improve conveyor reliability and plant performance.
- Participate in planned shutdowns, breakdown response and major maintenance campaigns.
- Maintain a strong focus on housekeeping, safety and compliance with site procedures.
About You
- Demonstrated experience maintaining fixed plant conveyor systems within the mining industry.
- Strong mechanical maintenance and fault-finding skills.
- Experience with conveyor belt installation, tracking, splicing and repairs.
- Knowledge of conveyor drives, pulleys, bearings, idlers and belt-cleaning systems.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and maintenance documentation.
- Strong understanding of preventative and breakdown maintenance practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary maintenance team.
- Robust commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
