You’re an experienced civil engineer looking to take the next step in your career. You will be working on civil projects across built form, road infrastructure, high-density precinct development, and public domain works.
This role is based at our Sydney office.
What You’ll Own
As a Civil Engineer - Construction, you will join a professional and collaborative team of engineers, designers, drafters, graduates and undergraduates working across a diverse portfolio of civil and infrastructure projects.
You will work closely with contractors, clients, project managers and design engineers throughout the construction phase and be responsible for activities including:
- Undertaking civil construction inspections and preparing associated inspection records and reports.
- Reviewing and administering Hold Points and Witness Points.
- Reviewing contractor Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and associated construction quality documentation.
- Reviewing material submissions, product approvals, shop drawings and technical documentation for compliance with the design intent and project requirements.
- Responding to RFIs and assisting with the resolution of construction and site-based technical issues.
- Reviewing non-conformances, defects and proposed construction departures in consultation with the design team.
- Supporting construction verification, certification and project close-out activities.
- Coordinating with contractors, clients, authorities and multidisciplinary design teams.
- Maintaining clear records of inspections, decisions, approvals and outstanding construction actions.
- Supporting the administration and delivery of TfNSW Independent Project Verification (IPV) projects.
- Assisting with technical reviews, verification activities, registers, submissions and close-out requirements associated with TfNSW projects.
- Providing practical engineering input that considers both design intent and construction methodology.
The role will provide exposure to projects across transport infrastructure, industrial, built environment, public domain and land development sectors.
While the position is primarily construction focused,
there will also be opportunities to contribute to design reviews and civil design activities where appropriate.

What You Bring
- 5+ years of relevant civil engineering experience, with demonstrated exposure to the construction phase of civil or infrastructure projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from a recognised university or institute.
- Experience undertaking civil construction inspections and working with contractors on active construction sites.
- Experience with Hold Points, Witness Points, ITPs, material approvals, RFIs and construction quality documentation.
- A practical understanding of construction methodologies and the ability to assess whether completed works align with drawings, specifications and design intent.
- Strong communication skills and confidence dealing directly with contractors, clients and project stakeholders.
- The ability to manage multiple projects, inspections and competing priorities while working autonomously.
- Robust written skills and the ability to maintain clear and defensible construction records.
- TfNSW project experience is highly regarded, particularly experience with TfNSW construction, verification, surveillance, assurance or Independent Project Verification processes.
- Previous civil design experience is preferred and will be valuable when reviewing construction issues, design changes and departures.
- Experience across roads, drainage, earthworks, pavements, utilities and associated civil infrastructure will be well regarded.
