Shop Fitter / Trades Assistant

AJ Baker & Sons are a fourth generation, family owned company, established in 1920 with branches throughout Australia. Located in WA, SA, NSW, VIC & QLD, we specialise in; supply, installation, service and maintenance of commercial refrigeration and air conditioning for supermarkets and other commercial businesses.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, reliable, suitably qualified and experienced Shop Fitter / Trades Assistant to join the Osborne Park Workshop team on a permanent fulltime basis.

This is an excellent opportunity to build your career in the commercial refrigeration industry, working on the fabrication and installation of refrigerated display systems, cool rooms, supermarket equipment and associated sheet metal components. The role involves both workshop fabrication and on-site installation work across the Perth Metro area.

You will be responsible for:

- Fabricate sheet metal components including marking out, cutting, and joining.

- General repairs to refrigeration equipment (ie coolroom doors, flashings, hardware, etc)

- Assist with the installation, positioning and modification of refrigerated display cabinets and associated equipment.

- Support installation teams with workshop preparation and on-site works.

- Operate workshop machinery, fabrication equipment and forklifts (where licensed) safely and efficiently.

- Maintain a clean, protected and organised workshop and worksite.

- Comply with company WHS policies, Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).

- Work collaboratively with colleagues, customers and contractors to deliver quality outcomes.





- Undertake other duties within your skills and experience as required.

To be a successful candidate, you will possess:

- Permanent working rights in Australia.

- Experience with hand and power tool, with minor fabrication and repair work

- Current WA Driver's Licence.

- A can do attitude and be able to "think outside the box"

- Forklift Licence (or willingness to obtain).

- Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.

- Excellent communication and customer service skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- A reliable, safety-focused approach and commitment to quality workmanship.

- Willingness to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment, including drug and alcohol screening, if required.
