The Role:

The Intake / Brief Intervention Counsellor provides high-quality, trauma informed intake services to clients who contact SASS for support. Working across SASS offices and the ARCH centre, the position works collaboratively with SASS and service providers to provide tailored support to children, young people and adults affected by sexual harm.

The position provides information to clients about SASS programs and processes and works with clients to understand their needs and expectations. This includes undertaking client eligibility screening, processing referrals and escalating matters requiring specialist consultation or assessment. In addition, the position responds to and coordinates crisis responses for individuals impacted by a recent sexual violence, facilitating timely access to information, support, and services.

We encourage you to apply for this role if you:





- Have a minimum of two years professional experience working in crisis response and/or sexual assault counselling with understanding of associated issues
- Are a skilled clinician with a knowledge of, and experience in, a broad range of trauma informed therapies, having worked with people who have experienced trauma
- Have a degree in counselling, psychology, social work with eligibility for membership of the relevant qualified association (APS, AASW or PACFA)
- Are able to coordinate and attend forensic medical examinations at the Royal Hobart Hospital and police statements at the Arch centre for recent sexual assaults, and support victim survivors through this process (note this role is 9-5 weekday position, not on-call)
- Have a current National Police Check and Working with Vulnerable People Card

SASS has multiple positions available, the role has a minimum of 3 days per week, up to 5 days per week.
