Mr Banks Brewing Co
Seaford
Taproom & Hospitality Manager
Banks Brewing | Seaford, VIC | Full Time
Great hospitality role. Great crew. Monday–Friday normal working week.
We’re looking for a great operator to take the reins of the Banks Brewing Taproom in Seaford.
Banks Brewing is an independent, family-owned brewery with a busy Taproom and a strong local following. We're serious about what we do, but we also want Banks to be a fun, relaxed place where people genuinely enjoy coming to work and customers feel at home.
This is a hands-on hospitality management role with plenty of ownership. You'll oversee the day-to-day operation and performance of the Taproom while leading our hospitality team and helping create the warm, welcoming local-bar feel that is a huge part of Banks.
The Role
You'll take ownership of the Taproom across hospitality operations, staffing, customer experience, functions and events, venue presentation, online store, merchandise, memberships and venue-related customer communication.
We want someone who can run a tight ship without making it feel like one.
You'll be organised and commercially minded, but just as importantly, you'll genuinely enjoy hospitality and people.
We want our Taproom Manager to become a familiar face of Banks — someone our regulars know, new customers immediately feel comfortable around and people genuinely enjoy having a chat with when they walk through the door.
What You'll Be Responsible For
Venue & Hospitality
- Oversee the overall operation and performance of the Banks Brewing Taproom.
- Maintain high standards of service, presentation, atmosphere and customer experience.
- Maintain a visible and welcoming management presence during key trading periods.
- Identify and resolve operational issues across the bar, kitchen and venue.
- Help create the relaxed, friendly and welcoming environment we want Banks to be known for.
People & Rostering
- Lead, support and manage our hospitality team.
- Manage bar and kitchen rostering around expected trade, bookings, functions and labour requirements.
- Manage staff availability, leave, sick calls and last-minute roster changes.
- Be prepared to jump in and cover bar or venue shifts when necessary due to illness or leave to ensure the venue continues to run smoothly.
- Provide hands-on support when trade is busier than expected or the team needs additional help.
- Ensure appropriate staff training, RSA and workplace standards are maintained.
Customer Experience
- Be a welcoming, approachable and recognisable face of the Taproom.
- Build genuine relationships with regulars,
members and new customers.
- Lead by example and create a hospitality culture where every customer feels welcome.
- Manage customer feedback, enquiries and complaints where required.
- Manage social media enquiries, comments and messages relating specifically to the Taproom, events, functions and customer experience.
- Monitor and respond to relevant online reviews.
Commercial Performance
- Review venue sales, product mix and trading trends.
- Monitor labour, food and beverage costs and venue margins.
- Review menu pricing, costings and product performance.
- Identify opportunities to improve venue sales and profitability.
- Monitor beer performance and customer demand.
Functions & Events
- Manage functions and bookings from enquiry through to execution.
- Coordinate staffing, food, beverage and operational requirements.
- Develop and manage the Taproom's annual events calendar.
- Plan and execute key Banks events and activations.
- Coordinate live music and other venue entertainment.
Food, Beverage & Venue Operations
- Oversee bar and kitchen stock requirements.
- Work with the team to maintain appropriate ordering and stock levels.
- Coordinate beer availability, tap changes and venue menus.
- Oversee food and beverage menu development, pricing and costings.
- Maintain a high standard of presentation throughout the Taproom and surrounding areas.
- Coordinate venue maintenance and contractors where required.
Online Store, Merchandise & Memberships
- Manage the Banks Brewing online store and order fulfilment.
- Maintain accurate online product and stock information.
- Manage merchandise stock, replenishment and Taproom presentation.
- Manage the operational side of our membership program.
- Coordinate member benefits, enquiries, member nights and venue-based member activities.
Compliance & Administration
- Oversee venue compliance including liquor licensing, RSA, food safety and workplace requirements.
- Ensure required records and procedures are maintained.
- Manage venue cash and banking reconciliation.
- Maintain relevant venue administration and operational systems.
The Hours
One of the major benefits of this position is the working week.
The ideal normal week is:
Monday: 9:00am – 4:30pm
Tuesday: 9:00am – 4:30pm
Wednesday: 9:00am – 4:30pm
Thursday: 10:00am – 6:00pm
Friday: 10:00am – 6:00pm
The later Thursday and Friday hours ensure you're around for the opening hours of Taproom service — welcoming customers, supporting the team and making sure everything is running smoothly heading into the weekend.
This is still a hospitality management role, so some flexibility will occasionally be required around staff illness or leave, major functions, events and other operational requirements.
But in a normal week, this is a Monday–Friday hospitality management position.
About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Has solid hospitality and venue management experience.
- Is confident leading and managing a team.
- Is organised and capable of taking genuine ownership of a venue.
- Understands rostering, labour management, margins and the commercial side of hospitality.
- Is hands-on and happy to jump in when the team needs help.
- Is naturally welcoming, personable and comfortable talking to customers.
- Enjoys building relationships with regulars and creating a genuine sense of community.
- Can balance being a good manager with being a great host.
- Is proactive and sees what needs doing rather than waiting to be told.
- Communicates well and works effectively across different parts of a business.
- Enjoys working in a relaxed, passionate and fun team environment.
Experience in beer or breweries is great, but strong hospitality experience and being the right fit for Banks is more important.
About Banks Brewing
Banks Brewing is an independent, family-owned brewery based in Seaford.
For more than 10 years we've been brewing beer, running our Taproom and building a loyal community around Banks.
We're a relatively small team, which means this isn't a corporate hospitality management role. You'll work closely with the owners, brewery, sales team, kitchen and Taproom staff and have genuine ownership over your area of the business.
We care about good beer, good hospitality and creating a place that both our staff and customers actually enjoy spending time in.
Keen?
If you're an experienced hospitality operator looking for a management position with plenty of ownership, a great crew and working hours that are pretty hard to find in hospitality, we'd love to hear from you.
Send your resume and a little about yourself to Chris at ••••@banksbrewing.com.au.
