The role of StandBy Postvention Coordinator oversees and coordinates the professional implementation and delivery of suicide postvention support within the Pilbara region of WA. You will deliver a high quality and responsive service to individuals, couples, families and groups who have been impacted by suicide. This involves delivering culturally appropriate, person centred and trauma informed interventions including initial support and brief counselling to people bereaved by suicide, assisting them in dealing with immediate needs presenting, and accessing other supports needed within the community.

Liaison with the local community and building strong collaborative relationships with a range of key stakeholders to deliver a consistent, high-quality postvention service that is appropriately tailored to the needs, demographics, and cultural makeup of each community is also a big part of this role. You will be expected to develop and deliver community education in the areas of grief, loss and bereavement to build community capacity and overall raise awareness about suicide postvention.

This is a part time (30 hours per week - 0.8 FTE) max term position based in Karratha, ending 30 June 2027. Workplace location is potentially flexible within the Pilbara region.

About you

To be successful in this role you will:

- Tertiary qualifications in community development, social work, counselling or related social science area (or equivalent demonstrated practical experience)
- Experience in delivering direct support to people in crisis, assessing their specific needs, and working closely with local service providers to ensure clients can access what they need
- Ability to deliver training and education to community members and groups




- Demonstrated ability to build strong and collaborative partnerships with external stakeholders
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal people
- Ability to work effectively independently, including conducting outreach visits, managing own work priorities and leading a service response across the region.
- Skills and experience in responding to trauma and suicide bereavement will be highly regarded

You also must possess a current National Police Clearance valid within one year; a WA Working with Children Check and a WA Drivers Licence.
