Junior Account Executive – ANZ

Outbound First, Explicit Path to AE | $80K to $85K Base + Super | $120K to $130K OTE | Sydney (Hybrid)

Cold call for nine months. Learn the sale from the inside. Then start running your own.

The company right now

BioScout is an AgTech company that has built world-first sensor technology for detecting airborne crop disease. The sensors sit in the field and give growers real-time data on what is coming, so they can map, prevent and manage an outbreak before it costs them the crop. The result is better crops, less chemical use and lower spend. The technology is patent-protected and, by BioScout's account, the first of its kind.

The mission is to take the guesswork out of crop protection. Disease costs growers yield every season, and most of the decisions about how to manage it get made without anyone knowing what is actually in the air. BioScout changes what a grower knows, and when they know it.

The company has grown on word of mouth so far, with no marketing engine behind it and almost no outbound. Customers stay, the product has been tested in the field across several seasons, and a funding round has just closed. That money is going into revenue.

The Role

This is the first seat at BioScout dedicated to building pipeline. The sales team roughly doubles this year, with a new ANZ business development manager starting in October and the first marketing hire landing around the same time. Your job is to fill their diaries.

For the first nine months or so, that means the phone. You will be cold calling growers and agribusinesses across Australia and New Zealand, booking discovery meetings, and sitting in on those meetings to learn how the sale actually gets made. Around month nine there is a scheduled conversation about you taking your own discovery calls, and it sits in the calendar from the start rather than hanging over the role as a vague promise about the future.

Why this role

- $80,000 to $85,000 base plus superannuation, with room to move for the right person

- $120,000 to $130,000 OTE in year one, rising to $150,000 to $160,000 in year two once you have moved into genuine sales

- Commission paid on meetings attended, set against a target and reviewed monthly, with a proper reset at three months, so the number moves as real data comes in

- A stated path into full-cycle sales, reviewed at month nine

- Patent-protected hardware with proven retention, and a funding round just closed

- A sales team roughly doubling this year, so the seats above you open as the company grows

What you'll actually do
- Cold call growers and agribusinesses across Australia and New Zealand. This is most of the job for the first nine months

- Book discovery meetings for the Chief Revenue Officer and the ANZ business development manager

- Sit in on those meetings and learn how the sale gets made

- Build and maintain your own target lists

- Report back on what is landing and what is not, so the messaging sharpens each month

- Keep the CRM straight

- From around month nine, start running first discovery and qualification calls yourself

You will be on the phone in your first week and booking meetings in your second. The target is 16 discovery meetings attended a month, reviewed monthly and properly at the quarter.

Who this suits

You do not need a background in agriculture, but that is a plus. What matters is that you have already learnt to cold call somewhere real, and that you want the next step rather than the same job at a different company.

- You have done a cold calling SDR or BDR stint and can talk through what you booked and how

- The phone does not bother you, which matters, because that is the channel here. Growers are not on LinkedIn

- You want full-cycle sales and are willing to spend nine months earning it

- You manage yourself, and you do not need someone checking your activity every afternoon

- You can be in a Sydney office four to five days a week

Some connection to farming helps. A family member who farms, holidays spent on one, enough to hold a conversation with a grower without sounding like you are reading from a card. Failing that, experience selling something physical or technical. Neither is a requirement.

What success looks like

- In your first month, you are on the phones in week one and booking meetings in week two, with enough real data by the quarter review to set a target that means something

- By three to six months, you are hitting 16 meetings attended a month consistently, and two diaries are staying full

- By six to nine months, you know the buyer well enough to handle the front half of a conversation on your own

- In year two, you are running your own discovery calls and your own qualification, with compensation that moves accordingly

Why this opportunity is different

Most junior sales jobs ask you to cold call on behalf of a product that has not proven itself, for a company that may or may not still be around in two years. BioScout has customers who renew, technology that works in the field, and money in the bank. What it does not have yet is a pipeline that matches its ambition, which is the entire reason this seat exists.

It is also a small company, so what you do is visible to the people who decide what happens next.

Be clear about the trade. This is Sydney, in the office, four to five days a week, and roughly nine months of cold calling before the role starts to change. If that reads as too much, it is not the job for you. If it reads as a fair price for learning to sell properly, it is worth a conversation.

This role is to be filled by Pointer, it is not for Pointer. The successful candidate will also receive 12 months of ongoing training and support, including advanced training programs and access to communities for professional growth - All of which is provided by Pointer in addition to internal programs.
