Your new role:
As an Advanced Health Worker, you'll support First Nations communities through culturally safe post-disaster recovery, with a focus on: * Provide culturally appropriate primary healthcare and psychosocial support within your scope of practice. * Create safe spaces that promote cultural healing, connection to Country, culture and community. * Support individuals and families to navigate the health system and access appropriate services. * Build relationships with community members, leaders, peer workers and government and non-government partners. * Co-facilitate community education, health promotion programs, workshops and recovery activities. * Provide cultural guidance to colleagues to strengthen culturally responsive practice. * Contribute to community capability, resilience, quality improvement and research activities. This is an identified vacancy with a genuine occupational requirement for the position to be filled by a candidate indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community. Candidates not meeting this criteria will not be considered.
About you:
You'll bring strong cultural knowledge, community connections and a commitment to improving the wellbeing of First Nations people, together with the ability to work collaboratively across health and community services. * Local knowledge of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander culture, customs and protocols. * Knowledge of culturally safe Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander primary healthcare principles. * Understanding of the social and cultural determinants of health and their impact on wellbeing.



* Strong communication and health literacy skills. * Confidence supporting education groups, programs, training and community workshops. * An interest in strengthening psychosocial wellbeing, recovery and disaster resilience. * Relevant Certificate IV or Diploma qualification in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care, Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs, or Mental Health Peer Work with supported pathways available for applicants committed to completing the required qualification.
