ICT Security Officer - Major Defence Prime

Permanent position - $150,000 to $170,000 salary plus extensive benefits
Brisbane based position with regular travel to South Australia
NV1 or NV2 security clearance required - applicants without this cannot be considered

Kinexus is a specialist defence and national security recruitment agency with over 25 years of working and specialising in the industry. We have partnered with a large defence prime business to search for an Information Technology Security Officer (ITSO) to join the Cyber Security team supporting a next-generation program.

ITSOs act as information security advisors in locality, working closely with engineering teams, system administration staff and the Commonwealth of Australia on next generation systems. They also carry an operational focus, including continuous monitoring and information security assurance of program systems, while keeping stakeholders informed of the system's security posture. The role reports into the program's Cyber Manager, under guidance from the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and the Program System Owner, and is carried out in accordance with the Commonwealth ISM, PSPF and DSPF.

In this role you will:

- Act as a security champion and advisor across all localities the systems operate within, engaging with all levels of the program, including business, contractor and Commonwealth staff
- Communicate security risk, engineering and compliance information to a wide range of stakeholders, from individual contributors and team leads through to senior leadership and risk owners
- Assist in the design, verification and validation of security enforcing functions within ICT environments, including Ground Segment, Labs and other secure environments




- Conduct continuous monitoring, auditing, security testing and assurance across Program systems, including identity and access management, event logging and SIEM configuration/tuning, system assurance and risk reporting, endpoint hardening, patch management verification, vulnerability scanning and secure data transfer compliance
- Support incident response and digital forensics activities, and create and maintain documentation of the environment's configuration and operational processes
- Conduct on-the-job training and briefings on system and security related topics, and help embed a culture of safety, security and compliance across the business

What's needed from you:

- An active Australian Security Clearance at the NV1 level is required for this role, with the ability to upgrade to NV2, candidates without this cannot be considered
- Experience with deployed systems as a cyber security analyst, officer or system administrator, exposure to deployed or test setting workspaces will be highly regarded
- A diploma or degree in cyber security, IT or a related discipline
- Industry certifications are highly desirable, such as CISSP, CRISC, CISM, SANS certifications, ISO 27001 Lead Auditor/Implementer, or formal DFIR training
- Highly organised, task oriented and a self-starter who demonstrates initiative, with strong communication and collaboration skills across a diverse team
