Haz-Elec Industries is seeking an experienced and commercially focused General Manager to lead our established business based in Cairns.

From our beginnings as a specialist hazardous-area and industrial electrical contractor in Cairns, Haz-Elec has developed into a respected provider of electrical, hazardous-area, HVAC, maintenance and project services across North Queensland and Northern Australia.

Today, as part of the Kolsen Group, Haz-Elec combines the relationships, responsiveness and local knowledge of a long-standing regional business with the systems, capability and support of a larger Australian group.

The Role

The General Manager will have overall responsibility for the leadership, operational performance and continued development of Haz-Elec.

This is a hands-on senior leadership position with responsibility across people, customers, operations, safety and commercial performance.

You will lead an experienced team while maintaining the culture and customer relationships that have been central to the success of the business.

Key responsibilities will include:

- Providing strong, visible leadership across the Haz-Elec business.
- Maintaining and developing long-term relationships with key customers and industry partners.
- Driving safe, reliable and profitable operational performance.
- Providing commercial oversight of projects, maintenance contracts and service activities.
- Developing new business opportunities while protecting and growing existing customer relationships.
- Leading, mentoring and developing operational and technical personnel.
- Maintaining a strong focus on HSEQ, compliance and operational discipline.
- Working with the broader Kolsen Group to access capability, resources and opportunities across Northern Australia.
- Developing annual budgets,



forecasts and business plans and delivering agreed financial outcomes.
- Ensuring Haz-Elec continues to maintain its reputation for responsive service, technical expertise and quality delivery.

About you

We are looking for an experienced business leader with a background in electrical contracting, industrial services, hazardous areas, resources, energy or a closely related sector.

Hazardous Area (HA/EEHA) experience would be highly regarded and ideally you will have worked in environments involving industrial electrical services, fuel infrastructure, resources, processing or other hazardous-area operations.

You may currently be a General Manager, Operations Manager, Regional Manager, Business Manager or senior Project/Service Manager ready to take the next step.

More important than your current title is your ability to lead people, understand customers, manage commercial performance and take ownership of a business.

The successful candidate will ideally bring:

- Demonstrated leadership experience within an electrical, industrial or technical services business.
- Robust knowledge of operational and commercial management.
- Experience with hazardous-area electrical environments and associated standards highly regarded.
- A strong understanding of project and maintenance/service contracting.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain senior customer relationships.
- Sound financial and commercial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, margin and cost control.
- A practical, solutions-focused leadership style.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality and compliance.
- Electrical trade, engineering or other relevant technical qualifications would be advantageous.
