Position Purpose
Reporting to the Chief Organisational Officer, the purpose of your role is:
The Workforce Compliance Officer supports a safe, capable and compliant workforce by providing coordinated oversight of workforce compliance, WHS, training and competency requirements. The role strengthens organisational assurance by identifying emerging risks, supporting effective controls and providing reliable information to inform management decision-making, governance and continuous improvement.
Position Responsibilities
As a Workforce Compliance Officer you will be responsible for and assisting with:
Workplace Health, Safety & Wellbeing
- Support the effective implementation and continuous improvement of the organisation’s WHS framework, promoting a proactive culture of safety, wellbeing and shared responsibility.
- Coordinate established WHS risk, incident, consultation and assurance processes, supporting the identification, management, follow-up and escalation of workplace risks.
- Monitor WHS performance, emerging trends and corrective actions, providing meaningful information and reporting to support management and governance oversight.
- Support the management of WHS risks associated with community and in-home service delivery and contribute to safe systems of work across the organisation.
Workforce Capability & Competency
- Coordinate established workforce training, competency and professional development processes to support a capable, competent and appropriately skilled workforce.
- Monitor workforce training, qualifications, competencies and other role requirements, identifying and escalating gaps that may impact employee capability, safety or compliance.
- Work collaboratively with line managers to identify workforce development needs and support appropriate learning, competency and capability initiatives.
- Evaluate training and competency outcomes and contribute to continuous improvement of workforce development approaches.
- Provide practical guidance to managers on the consistent application of workforce policies and procedures, referring complex or sensitive matters to the appropriate manager.
- Assist with the development, review and maintenance of workforce compliance procedures, forms, checklists and guidance materials.
Workforce Compliance & Assurance
- Coordinate and monitor workforce compliance requirements across the employee lifecycle, supporting compliance with legislative, regulatory, contractual and organisational obligations.
- Monitor workforce credentials, screening, qualifications, employment requirements and associated compliance records, identifying gaps and ensuring appropriate follow-up and escalation.
- Undertake workforce compliance monitoring and assurance activities, identifying trends, gaps and emerging risks and ensuring appropriate escalation and follow-up.
- Provide practical guidance to managers and employees regarding workforce compliance requirements and established organisational processes.
Quality, Risk & Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to organisational audit, accreditation, risk and quality assurance activities relevant to workforce compliance, safety and capability.
- Monitor findings and corrective actions arising from audits, incidents and compliance reviews and support their effective resolution.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen workforce systems, controls and processes and contribute to organisational continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support the ongoing review and improvement of workforce-related policies, procedures, systems and resources.
Reporting, Governance & Systems
- Maintain accurate and reliable workforce compliance, WHS and training information to support effective operational and governance oversight.
- Monitor key workforce compliance indicators, trends and exceptions and provide timely reporting to management and relevant governance committees.
- Support organisational reporting and assurance requirements by providing meaningful workforce compliance information, analysis and evidence.
- Contribute to the effective use and continuous improvement of systems, registers and reporting mechanisms supporting workforce compliance.
To thrive in this role you will have:
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety, Business, or Leadership and Management.
- Sound knowledge of relevant workforce compliance obligations, including Work Health and Safety legislation, employment standards, workforce training and competency requirements, and contemporary compliance, risk and governance practices.
- Demonstrated experience supporting WHS, risk and incident management processes, including identifying and escalating risks, monitoring corrective actions and contributing to safe systems of work.
- Demonstrated ability to monitor and analyse workforce compliance, WHS and training information, identify trends and gaps, and provide accurate reporting to support management decision-making and governance oversight.
- Demonstrated experience contributing to audits, compliance reviews, quality assurance and continuous improvement activities, including identifying opportunities to strengthen systems, controls and processes.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interpret and apply policies and compliance requirements, provide practical guidance to managers and employees, and appropriately escalate complex or sensitive matters.
- Demonstrated experience maintaining a Human Resources Information System (HRIS), ensuring the accuracy, integrity, confidentiality and compliance of employee records in accordance with legislative and organisational requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, maintain attention to detail and identify opportunities to improve HR systems, processes and service delivery.
Office Base Location
Based at the Australind Office but will be required to work from other sites.
