About the Role

A solid mechanical services firm with a genuinely busy project pipeline – new builds across commercial, residential, and mixed-use work – is looking for an experienced design engineer to step up and lead.

You'll report to the Engineering Manager and own mechanical projects from the drawing board through to handover. Think challenging, varied work with real clients and real impact.

They're after someone who gets a kick out of solving design problems, mentoring people, and seeing their work come to life on site.

What You'll Actually Do

- Lead mechanical design projects end-to-end – making sure they land on time, on budget, and to a standard you're proud of
- Run design reviews and value engineering; find smarter, cheaper ways to deliver
- Work closely with PMs, subbies, and clients to keep design and construction in sync
- Get on site and in front of clients when it matters – sort out design challenges face-to-face
- Contribute technical input for tenders, including site inspections and estimates




- Mentor team members and help build a culture where people want to do valuable work
- Stay across compliance, codes, and standards – and make sure everyone else does too
- Support commissioning and handover; be the person who knows how it all works

Who They're After

- Mechanical Engineering degree (or equivalent)
- 7–8 years' solid experience delivering design on projects locally
- CPEng/NER registration (non-negotiable)
- Real track record leading design from start to finish
- Exposure to Health, Education, Residential, and Commercial projects
- You know construction – how it actually works, not just theory
- You can communicate clearly and lead without ego
- You genuinely care about safety, quality, and getting better at what you do
