About the role
The Aboriginal Health Practitioner role is central to providing culturally grounded, respectful and accessible care for Aboriginal clients attending Brewarrina Multi-Purpose Service. The position requires strong communication skills and the ability to build trust, rapport and meaningful relationships with Aboriginal clients, families and community members.
Experience in a multidisciplinary health setting is valuable, you will plan, develop, consultant with community, implement and review Aboriginal health programs, including health promotion/education and disease prevention programs, to ensure they are culturally appropriate and address identified needs.
The role requires someone who can work confidently on their own while contributing positively within a team. Knowledge of local Aboriginal communities, services and cultural protocols is highly regarded, as is a commitment to ongoing learning and connection with community.
One of the most rewarding aspects of the role is building ongoing relationships with clients and seeing positive outcomes through early intervention, education and culturally safe care.
Supporting Aboriginal people to stay connected to their health care and helping prevent hospitalisation can make a real difference in people’s lives.
