An exciting opportunity exists for a highly self-motivated RN for the role of a Pre-Admission Clinic Nurse for a minimum 9-week secondment (Monday – Friday 0730-1536) with potential to extend.
Employment Type: Temporary Part Time until 13 December 2026 (with possibility of ongoing employment)

Where you'll be working
Northern Beaches Hospital features 486 beds, 50-bed Emergency Department, 20-bed general and cardiothoracic ICU,
a state-of-the-art theatre complex, world-class education centre, and excellent staff facilities including café and secure on site car parking. Northern Beaches Hospital has a wide range of services that can help you build a healthcare career in your chosen field.
DOSA is located on the first floor of NBH and is a 40 bed ward. The hours are typically 6am to 9pm, Monday to Friday working 8 hour shifts
What you'll be doing
- Work closely with Day Surgery NUM, Anesthetic team and the Hospitals Clinical Coordinator as the first point of contact when the patient is preparing for surgery.Ensure patients are fully informed of their surgery and have completed an informed consent form, and health history.
- Ensure patients are fully prepared for surgery and that it is safe to proceed with the surgery they require.
- Conduct and complete face to face Patient Health Assessments including ECG’s and patient physical assessment.
- Document, report and action clinical findings in system
- Pre-Operative education for patients attending surgery ensuring they have also made the necessary preparations for post operative care.
- Assist in coordinating the follow up of test results for surgery as required.
- Substantiate data relevant to the patient's readiness for surgery, communicate pertinent information to the relevant stakeholders.
People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
1. Registered Nurse - Division 1 with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
2. Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
3. Current clinical knowledge and clinical problem solving ability.
4. A commitment to excellence in nursing practice and continuing professional development.
5. Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
6. An understanding of the professional, ethical and legal requirements of the Registered Nurse.
